“OK Overture” FROM OK ORCHESTRA OUT NOW: ajr.lnk.to/okorchestra
Directed by Edoardo Ranaboldo
Michael Francis - Director of Photography
Caleb Natale - VFX Artist
Lyrics:
One day, maybe someday
I’ll be so out of touch
I’ll become a trumpet or a drumset
In a sad orchestra
One day, maybe someday
In a world speeding up
It’s getting hard, so very hard to keep up
One day, maybe someday
I’ll be so out of touch
I’ll become a trumpet or a drumset
In a sad orchestra
One day I won’t know what to write
And I can’t be eighteen my whole life
But I’m too fucking young
To feel so fucking old
But I’ll try and I’ll try and I’ll try
But I’m not dead yet
so I guess I’ll be alright

I’m so glad OKO has an overture, as much as I loved Neotheater there’s just nothing quite like hearing all their songs carefully crafted into one single masterpiece

neotheater had a different structure, they had an intro (next up forever) and a finale (finale, duh) so an overture wouldn't've really worked

I actually could cry to this. At the very end where it's a line from each song about. The one from three o clock things saying "No going back" actually hits me for some reason. It's an amazingly melodic, inspiring, and catchy song. I was debating if it's something you hear as the "Prelude" (Think Another Day in the Sun from La La Land). Or is the Finale? I decided it's neither. It's the "intermission" song. "Yeah, I'm knocked down, but 'I'm here still.'"

The musical genius that goes into every Overture is insane. I wonder if when they're brainstorming song ideas for an album, they create them in a way so they go well together as an Overture. Or do they just hope that when you throw them all in a blender that something as magical as this pops out.

This song genuinely makes me want to dance dramatically and scream my heart out singing the lyrics, but all the lyrics aren’t very coherent (not a bad thing at all, it makes it so much better), so I’m just shouting in my head and aggressively head-bopping and foot-tapping while drawing. AJR is the best band I have ever listened to. No joke. Your songs make me feel things that I have never felt, and yet they bring such a familiar joy.

It wasn't until yesterday my Spotify recommended this song, and I wasn't aware of it. It hit me like a damn truck with emotions when I heard all the songs I knew blend into a beautiful melody. And that last line? "But I'm not dead yet, so I guess I'll be alright" Is the chapter name of my 2023. I'm definitely in a better place than I was in 2022.

My absolute favorite thing about this video is how pained Jack looks the whole time. Like he's not just singing the songs, he's feeling them the whole entire time. You can feel the origins of all the songs colliding, and it's the relatable energy that's so hard to put into words, which is why when they all come together at the end, it's ugly cry-worthy powerful. At the end especially. I love whenever they are playing they're really feeling the music and how you can tell they're concentrating so hard. Either that or they're pretending it isn't effortless for an effect (which is likely since they're so talented)

Is that part actually a song in the album or is it exclusively just a part of the overture. I skimmed most of album to try and find it.

@@augienathanson2432 it’s exclusively part of the overture, which I think is a new thing for them. But “ But I’m not dead yet so I guess I’ll be alright” is in the bridge of Way Less Sad. It just hits different in the overture

Everything is gonna be alright. We just gotta keep going even if it sucks right now. I love that message. AJR has consistently shown the awful uncertainty of it all while being humorously (but also sincerely) hopeful. We all sad but vibin

This is probably my favorite thing about AJR. They are able to combine all of their songs from one album into one and make it sound so good.

I've been listening to them for like 5 or so years and seeing them grow has been the best thing. They fully deserve it

It's definitely a shame, because "I'm Ready" was an absolutely massive hit, but they've honestly only gotten better with each album and yet nothing has gained the same traction since.
