So Veldora is a True Dragon, and because of that a Spirtitual Lifeform (like Demons/Spirits). That means he needs a physical body for possesion. He created the Dragonform by himself, with his own magicules, but because he was absorbed by Rimuru, he didn't need it anymore and disolved it back into magicules. So Rimuru provided him an enhance clone of his.

Honestly, the password wasn't necessarily just a setup. If Rimuru changed personality-wise and became a different person, be it less caring or even crueller he would have said the password with no hesitation. If he retained reason but was no longer the Rimuru we know, he'd remember the password. It's the way he would handle it that would tell Benimaru just who he was talking to. That's my personal theory on it at least.

Veldora hasnt had a pysical form since before he and Rimaru even met. He is basically a mass of magicules that went into the body that Rimaru made, then he shaped it as he pleased to look like that. Im sure he can freely change into dragon form if he feels like it.

Well, I'd say no. No to everyone here. A dragon is a form, not who you are. For instance, a wyvern is a form. It is not a dragon, because it has physical characteristics that separates it from a dragon. Same as a drake. You can't say that a dragon changing its form to lose its front 2 legs to still be a dragon. It would become a drake. So, Veldora is no longer a dragon, since he is not in a dragon form.

@@BigFry9591 True Dragon is their SPECIES DESIGNATION. No matter what form Veldora (as a Spiritual Entity) takes, he will ALWAYS be a True Dragon by species designation, as that's his species. No different than how any sufficiently high ranking Majin can become a Spiritual Entity of varying extent, and thus practically immortal as long as the Soul survives; only True Dragons don't need their Souls to survive to still be able to resurrect, they just need their Concepts to exist anywhere, and they are functionally Resurrective Immortals even if their Souls are fucked beyond recovery. It will literally reform from their Concepts alone, from scratch while maintaining the "data" on Soul level in the new Soul.

Just a little something to clarify With the Harvest Festival, Rimuru evolved into a new species. He's what is called a "True Demon Lord" because he fulfilled the 10.000 souls requirement. Karrion isn't like that. He "merely" took the title of Demon Lord because the humans referred to him as such. In terms of power, he's more or less equivalent to how Rimuru was before his evolution (which is still nothing to scoff at, obviously). On the other hand, we know that Milim *did* evolve like Rimuru, so there's no debate as to how far above Karrion she is. The fact Karrion asked the question "i wonder which one of us is stronger?" is just a testament of how weaker than her he was. Remember when Milim one-shotted that giant flying whale and called that "holding back" ? Well now you have the proof she was. She clearly didn't steal her title of "Tyrant of Destruction" (also she may or may not still be holding back in this scene, despite how you feel about her nuking the city and mountain in one attack, Milim is busted)

Just to clarify: in order to become a true demon lord you need the seed and the 10,000 human souls but just to become a demon lord you only need to be acknowledged as one by the current demon lords, so there is a big difference in power between the true demon lords and the other ones

Not that it really matters since this particular Raphael is more of a bodyless phenomenon or maybe an extension of Rimuru's mind (who is also genderless) than a being of it's own, so gender-norms really don't apply here I would say.

Friendly Reminders: - Veldora is one out of 4 True Dragons. In the novels, Raphael explains to Rimuru that they don't have a set form and that they can change their perceived form to what they want. In this particular case, Rimuru provided Veldora with an enhanced body and Veldora is inhabiting it. - Diablo, at this point in the anime, is one hell of a butler. Keep in mind what that Razen dude mentioned about the Primordials. Diablo is really unique even among his race. - As with other titles, Light Novel and Web Novel of this series from one certain point and afterwards start to diverge GREATLY from one another. Aside from Slime I can also think of Overlord that had this issue. Soo, people who have only read one of them and NOT the other keep it in mind as well. In Slime, if I remember correctly, the WalpurgisNacht is the turning point of the story and the start of the Divergence, which also happens to be the arc of the second part of season 2 airing this summer. The ones who have ALSO read the manga, such as myself, know exactly what I am talking about.

Slime Isekai has blown me a way. The anime was so god-tier, I went ahead and got through a bunch of the LNs. Now, I have years wrth of the anime to look forward to, so I can see what I've read come to life. The story gets so much more complex and intense. The story of Rimiru Tempest and his legion of monsters will remain a great deal of entertainment for fans for a long time to come.

There are basically two types of DLs. 1. A powerful creature declares itself a DL without evolving into a true Demon Lord. That includes monsters who have the DL seed, as well as fairies, spirits, angels, and heroes. Any being can declare themselves a demon Lord if they are strong enough. But if the other DLs don't acknowledge them, they can get wiped out. So it's risky. 2. Gaining a DL seed and then evolving into a true DL.

to put into perspective how strong Milim is, in the map of the continent there is a massive desert, that was a lush forest before, and now thats her handywork... yeah, the anime and even the manga do not explain a lot of important details, like for example, that True Demon Lords are different from simple Demon Lords, basically there are those that adquire the Seed to become a True Demon Lord, then must sacrifice X amount of lifes to become True Demon Lords, this was done by Rimuru (the grief of the death of Shion and everyone else made him qualify in reciving the Seed from the Voice of the World), but by the same token, nothing is really stopping anyone fomr calling themselves Demon Lords or Heroes (little non spoiler info about this, Demon Lords have Seeds, and Heroes have Eggs), those are simply names, but the true difference is whether the World itself recognizes them as such, being recognized by the world as such comes with a LOT of benefits, and as you saw, Carrion was a self proclaimed unlike Milim, tough thats more cause Milim is already endgame... yeah, she is THAT powerful

Having read the manga, I know it gets darker a bit, so to answer your question, I was really afraid to see where it was going to go. The anime kept skipping over things and wasn't as dark. It might change during the second part of the season, so I'm not sure how far they'll go.

Most Legends and Myths involving Dragon state very clearly that they have the ability to walk this world in human form once they mature into their teenage years. Supposedly they live for a very long time it's not unconceivable then that if you lived for a few thousand years or were immortal or as close as possible that you could manipulate your own form. Especially in a world that had magic. It's a rough call but out of the first 12 of this season I think episode 11 is still my favorite.

Rimuru said before slaughtering the army that maybe Clayman wanted the Farmus/Tempest conflict to gather tge souls for himself. The ln explains you don't have to kill them yourself. If Rimuru wouldn't have collected tgem they would have gone to him since he orchestrated the whole thing.

I wonder if Millim's motivation are scones. :P A combat buttler! Just like Sebas form Overlord and Wilhelm from Re:Zero... among many, many others. It's a rather popular archetype in anime. There IS more to Veldora being put into this body, but the anime skipped it, at least for the time being. I expect the explanations will come in the next episode. They probably really wanted to have Veldora's return in this episode, but there wasn't enough time to explain it and thus moved it the explanations to after the fact. Tensura Nikki (Slime Diaries) is absolutely worth watching. It's just so adorable, sweet, hilarious and overall wholesome. It also provides some interesting pieces of background information that while not necessary for the main story, still flash out the world and characters to a nice degree.

Veldora, as a true dragon, is technically a spiritual being that doesn't have an actual physical form. Rimuru is providing him with a vessel to posses that makes it a lot easier for him to maintain a physical form and not constantly be expending magicules to maintain one. What defines a true dragon isn't their physical form but instead their spirit and the STUPID amount of magicules and power they generate ... as well as a few other metaphysical things. But yeah, Veldora is still able to assume his classical draconic form. However, it's a bit easier for him to exist, interact with people, and otherwise not cause a gigantic panic while in a humanoid form.

About the demon lords' power level. At the time Carrion, Clayman, and Frey weren't even a true demon lord. They only had the demon lord seed while Milim is one of the two most powerful true demon lords. So yeah, there is a HUGE power gap between them.

There are 2 types of “demon lords”. There is the true sense of demon lord known as “True Demon Lord”: milium and rimuru are considered. And then there is “demon lord”: this title is more of a self proclaimed title of those who are strong but are nowhere near the lv of what “true demon lords” are. Those in this category would be clayman and carrion.

First things first, rimuru could control milim through the power of snacks and honey. Then, it has nothing to do with this anime but if you didnt know, overlord is getting a season 4 and a movie. Season 4 will cover volumes 10 and 11, and the movie volumes 12 and 13. Since previous seasons were 3 volumes this could mean a slower but more developed story. I'm a little scared the movie will leave too many thing behind for the sake of time, nothing we can do but hope it'll be good.
