Finally a good video on how to do this. Everyone else either shows you on a worn out spring that requires almost no effort or they show some overly complicated bs using a drill press or something. Thank you.

Still useful information in 2024!! Thanks! After much frustration, I thought I was going to have to go to a gunsmith. I was told "just pop it off". Thank you for showing and explaining HOW to "just pop it off".😊 Also how to "just snap it back in".😵💫

Best video on you tube for this. Looked at others especially for putting on Texas Weapons system 'dog leg' rail. Screwed around for 30 min. with the others and this nailed it in 10 sec. with no 'special' tools like a custom dremelled dowl rod. This is what makes the internet and especially KZbin such a revolution since I was a kid.

Yeah that was actually awesome, I didn't have to sit through sponsors and a half hour explaining why you needed to change the sights. It's been a while since I've had to mess with them and the whole process took about 2 1/2 minutes including watching the video lol appreciate the help. Also I was gonna say I can't believe that got through century QC but then again, I absolutely can 😂

My Mauser Kar98k rear sight was not coming off since the pin was fixed to the rear sights. Almost all Kar98k rear sights are removed by tapping out the the pin. I tried your method on the Mauser and it slid off perfectly without damaging the gun. Although it is for a different rifle, thank you for helping me with the Mauser rear sight removal :-)

Thank you very much! I just picked up my first AK yesterday (Cugir WS1-63) and the previous owner had replaced the rear sight with a mount for a red dot. I'm planning to go with the side rail for that, so I wanted to swap it back to the irons first and get some trigger time with the stock gun before moving on to optics (if you can even call it stock, it already came with the Magpul Zhukov furniture, an ALG trigger and the Krebs style safety, all the mods I had been planning to put on my AK anyway, score XD). I struggled a bit with this (although I have done the same on a K98 a while ago and it appears the two sights are quite similar) and your video helped out a lot. Thanks again! Greetings from Germany :)

Your tap and rap method is much easier than the old push and twist method I was taught. I agree with using a catch cloth or box and anyone who has spent 20 merry minutes looking for a part that has shot across the room will understand why.

Having trouble re-assembling the upper hand guard. During disassembly the lock lever wouldn’t budge and I had to force it up to remove the upper hand guard. Now it seems to be hitting the rear of the gas tube during re-assembly and will not close properly. Any suggestions that I might try before taking it to a gunsmith?
