I took mine apart and put Pad Corx from MPCStuff under my Advance 61 pads. It was relatively easy and took less than an hour, helped a ton with the feeling and the responsiveness.

@@chaddonal4331 So sorry for the late reply (understatement). I honestly made my own by cutting strips of electrical tape. Worked just as good, performs the same function as the manufactured ones.

thanks for this informative Review! btw...you have are very pleasant talking voice. was good to hear for me, that the pads are not too exciting. I picked up this week the mpk261 but it also won't be my forever Keyboard, the keybed itself is for my taste to stiff - I come from the Novation Impulse. anyway, the mpk226 is totally beautiful designed, the pads are one of the best I ever played and the knobs & faders are hq.

I just purchased an AKAI midi controller. Do you have any tips for getting started? I am really out of date. I enjoyed hearing your voice and you sound genuinely compassionate about your art. How did you achieve the electronic sound towards the end of your video?????

Hi sis thank you again for sharing us good lessons about midi . I have one more question. Which one is best from these two midi. akai advance 49 or akai advance 61 and which one can stay long without any problems? I want to buy one of them.Thank you very much

Fitsum Mezghebe if you have the extra budget, and room for the 61, I recommend getting it. The extra keys are always helpful. That is the only difference between the two really.

I'm not sure if you are still active on KZbin but what do you think about the Advance keys vs the Novation impulse keys? God I love the impulse keys but I only have a 49 key and I need more, I found a brand new 61 key advance for 250 so I'm torn. Akai has a long history of making quality hardware but absolute shit keybeds. They look cheap but I haven't played it so I'm hoping for a response from someone who has used both.

Victoria what do you think about the Komplete Kontrol S49?
@ViktoriaSilk7 жыл бұрын
TheServalt the Keybed on the s49 is excellent! From what I've heard, the Keybed was designed by Arturia, but I think the S series keyboards feel much nicer and appears to be more durable than than the arturia keyboards. The scale modes it offers can be really helpful if you are newer to the piano or want to experiment with different key signatures. It's super hi tech. I was debating on the S series, but wanted to save money, and I didn't have the need for the scale mode. Plus I like having pads on my keyboard :p

Hey Victoria I own an KK S61, very nice to control all NI Software but I'm looking to buy another controller. I was thinking between AKAI Adv 49 and the ALESIS VX49... they seem to have bot VIP and control of Logic... can you confirm? would you suggest them to me? I also do not want to spend other 600EUR for NI :-) Stefano
@ViktoriaSilk7 жыл бұрын
Hi Stefano! I completely understand the feeling of wanting to get a new controller even though the one you have is good haha, I'm always on the hunt for a new toy. I worked for years at a music store in the professional audio/hi tech department, and I will say that when it comes to the two different brands, Alesis tended to be returned/exchanged more. I believe there were a few reasons for that. The quality isn't up to the same standard. The keys sometimes didn't completely work, and the pads didn't quite cut it. That being said, Alesis doesn't make terrible controllers by any means, and if you are working with a smaller budget, it will get the job done. Another recommendation I would give is the Akai MPK249, it is about $100 cheaper (84.83 euros?) cheaper than the advance 49 and you get faders AND knobs. If you aren't one to go in and tweak out your midi controller, the MPK 249 is just as good for you as the advance. Hope this helps! Sorry for super long response :P

Thanks for the review. Very useful. I'm considering this keyboard for use in Reason. In other videos I haven't seen Reason as one of the DAWs with automap type integration (or is it just for VIP integration?) but the other videos I've seen are quite old and Reason has only recently had VST support so it would be good to know if it now supports Reason. I did check the VIP 3 section on the AKAI site but there's no information there. Anyone using in Reason?
@ViktoriaSilk7 жыл бұрын
Roko's Basilisk thank you for watching, I'm glad you found it useful! On VIP's website, they say it is compatible with any daw that supports the vst protocol, but I was having a little trouble finding what version of vst VIP was. Reason 9.5 came out in April, and VIP has been out much longer, so I would imagine they would be compatible, even though Reason uses vst 2.4 and the most current vst version is 3.0. This is just me speculating, but I would think it would support VIP. Hopefully someone watching has tried it and can give us some insight!

Hi Do you know anything about the Novation brand 49 key? Thanks!
@ViktoriaSilk7 жыл бұрын
Hi :) sorry for the late response! Novation has multiple midi keyboards, I have personally worked regularly with the launchkey and the Impulse. I like the launchkey because it is a good bang for your buck, and is directly compatible with Ableton. I feel it is not as sturdy as other pricier options, but that being said, it doesn't feel like it is going to break apart either. The Impulse is actually very well made, and feels heavier duty. It is often over shadowed by other flashier controllers, but it is a great keyboard. I think the keys are better, and the pads are more useful. It is an older midi keyboard, but it is still being sold and has held is own. Lastly, the SL Mk2 controllers are going to be the best Novation option (in my opinion). The keys are perfect and it offers better feedback as to what you are controlling, and the controls are touch sensitive. It all depends on your budget and what you are looking for and can live without. Sorry about the novel I just wrote haha, hope it helped!

Is there a different midi value to use to change sounds other than cc 102?

All VST plug-ins, VIP 3.0 is automatically set up I can directly use, or need their own manual settings? How many presets can I save for each VST plugin? I do not want to buy a new keyboard, and I would like to use VIP 3.0 directly in Maschie Studio. Do not know if I can?
