+duboweek The video was more than helpful. I was starting to wonder if the deck was broken even though it was fully restored less than a year ago. It's out of warrenty and I was afraid that I would have to pay for a repair. If it wasn't for your demo I would have taken it to a repair shop nearby and would have paid for it to be checked only to find that I was just using the wrong steps!! The diagnostic charge would have been $100.00 bucks. Keep making those demo videos because there are many out here like me that need help!! All The Best and Thanks! Chuck Worthy

Wow! The recorded playback off the tape machine sounded amazing! I love old analog gear! I have an Akai M8 tube tape machine as well as this one. I love recording my own music to tape then back to my daw. Adds that extra sauce that is just amazing!. I am addicted to tape machines and it all started with the M8!

Like your videos. This is a very underrated deck in my opinion. Easily matches my teac x1000r in sound quality depending on tape and source quality. Big plus is its simple to operate. Thanks.

Thanks for the Demo. When I record, its showing that two vu meters are working and I can listen the both sides. But when I play the tape, I can only hear one line. why is that?

Check whether the heads are clean. Is track selector in Stereo position?

Daca Akai GX 4000 D avea rola presoare pe rulment ,tamburul din stânga ca la Tesla B 100 ,tamburul din dreapta mai mare an diametru cu un arc mai mare deci mai elastic, cu trei craci și cu reglaj pe scări ,motorul pe bucsi butoi,ar fi fost cel mai de treabă mag.

Hi! what type of tape are you using to record? i'm using the Akai to record the final mix of my productions on a new TDK LX 35-90 tape but when i listen back what i recorded the highs and lows levels don't correspond on what i've set on my mixer, can you help me?

I use all available tapes. My favorite are: Maxell, TDK, Memorex and 3M (studio grade). I don't remember particular models. It seems like you have the EQ button pressed on your open reel. Unpress it and do not use it for recording, at least on high speed. If this is not the case - then i don't know.

When I record to tape and record back into ableton, it’s so quiet and I think it’s because of the way I have those knobs set. Any ideas? 🤗

I have a condenser microphone. Any idea if I could plug the mic directly in to this unit? Or would I run it through my audio interface for phantom power and send the interface to the tape?

Honestly, I don't know. I have external mike and I tried it with my AKAI shown in the video. It worked for me.

Condenser needs 48V phantom power which this unit doesn't have. Use your mixer

Yerrr I just got an Akai gx-4000d and am so confused with the outer and inner rings for the line and rec knobs. When I screw around with them, there’s a delay/echo/reverb effect and was wondering if you knew how to eliminate that issue??

I think you need to read the manual. One knob controls the mic rec input level. Another - line rec level.

Sirve para grabar repetidamente, una vez tras otra sobre la pista 3 un sonido previamente grabado sobre la pista 1. Era utilizado por ejemplo para grabación de lecciones de idiomas, frases, etc.
