Hi there, many thanks for this informative video and demo. Based on this video and some others on KZbin, I've just bought a Akai GX-4000D but I'm wondering if it is functioning correctly. When you turn the track selector to 1-4 do you get sound only out of one speaker or does it still come out of both the left and right speakers? Thanks in advance for your reply!

@gordondaly3500 Congratulations on your new Akai GX-4000D. Nothing to worry, my friend :) This is a recording and playback feature. When Stereo is selected, the machine will record on track 1 and 3 of the tape (left and right channel). When 1-4 is selected, you can record a signal in mono through the left channel. Similarly, when you select 3-2, you can record a signal in mono through the right channel. This is a feature you may not be using, but it can come handy when you wish to mix down audio signals :) Once again, congratulations on your investment. Enjoy the beauty of analogue audio on R2R tape :)

@gordondaly3500 You are very welcome. You've got that spot-on right now! Record some audio and switch between source and tape while you are recording. You'll hear the beauty of your machine reproducing the audio off the tape :) Enjoy!
