I hope they're coming out with a MPK288 with more pads, knobs and slider's.

you wont care about a bit of mechanical noise when playing in any normal situation, most live music venues are relatively noisy in one way or another. my keystation pro is said to be noisy but i dont think about it when i'm concentrating on the sound from my speakers. mpk88 looks like it will be the market leader for weighted keys.
@JoseMorales-pc5yk Жыл бұрын
Would you happen to know why when I’m using the akai mpk88 with GarageBand, I hear distortion and the sound changes key. For example, when I’m playing in Am, it changes it to Gm… and then back to Am. This controller is so frustrating! Is this a controller issue or GarageBand issue?
@mwkmn12 жыл бұрын
I'm on the same boat as you, looking for 88key controller with hammer action and initially excited about the MPK88. Then I found out about the poor key action and build quality problems. After googling like crazy and reading various forums, I've decided to buy a used Yamaha KX8 which many agree is built well and plays similar to a real piano. None of the current products (MPK88, Oxygen88, etc) are appealing and I can't afford to pay arms and legs for premium brands.

well i finallly got the keystation pro88 and so far no complains about it, just has the perfect feeling and alot of knobs :)
@rodolfonetto1183 жыл бұрын
I've seen this a lot about keys on several hammer action keyboards: keys are louder. I would love to see how loud an acoustic piano keyboard is - but that will require the strings to be removed or really dampened.

How do you assign parameter control on this model i tried but still i hear only notes playing can u please make a video on that
@soLidxciter15 жыл бұрын
Pads feel great, but response-wise a little disappointing. But with a little modification it should work flawlessy. The hammer-action has a slightly heavier resistance when compared to the horugel grand piano that I have. I've played the piano for some time and I personally feel the keys on this unit feel wonderful to the touch; very much like playing on a grand.

@topgun9491 How is it....Because I'm planning to buy one on Wednesday. I just sold my 25 key Novation SL MK II because I needed a 88 key for piano lessons, so I was fixated on copping this one because all of the other ones were either crappy or they didn't have the feature set like the mpk. because it is a MIDI controller. they dont make any sounds, they trigger sounds from other modules, such as a sample library on a computer, or a hardware synthesizer. theres no point in showing the sound since it all depends on the library or module you are using.

Why you worried about the sound of the keys? That sound is never going to end up in your recording. It's a midi controller.
@viczvapo10 жыл бұрын
he might have been talking about the piano effect. The midi signal sent might be too loud, although it is played softly.
@Catralasarguido10 жыл бұрын

@labornvain8 жыл бұрын
+Terence Kearns Really loud keys can be a huge distraction when hammering out drum parts. They can also interfere with recording if the artist is, for example, doing a piano vocal performance. I have an M-Audio Axiom 61 and the keys are so loud and obnoxious that even headphones won't shut them up.
@goranvuletic88737 жыл бұрын
Not only that, but if you are playing in a room and having a headphones, and having your family members around, it can be a problem for them and for you as well, because the keys can be VERY loud, like on Korg M1. I really hate that.
@M3sslah13 жыл бұрын
@topgun9491 How do you like the keys compared to other digital pianos or real pianos? Are they realistic in the hammer-action? I am choosing between this, Fatar vmk-188 plus or CME UF80, what I heard so far is that Fatar have the best keys but Akai have more controller possibilities.
@memorylane1980s13 жыл бұрын
Hi I am worried about the keys as the MPK25 I have just sold was a bit to hard to press down therefore making it a bit to hard to play as a piano. Are they light to touch?

hey thanku u saved me i was about to buy this cause i have an alesis qx49 with the same porblem the keys are so hard to play, can u recomend me an 88 keys midi controller ?? with actual working keys like a real piano i hate using to much strength on my fingers

@ryguy09264 drivers are contained within the computer, it doesn't produce any sounds itself and you can use it with most any audio software you can think of, as long as it has midi capabilities
@mrwright90914 жыл бұрын
@RhymeByRhyme I recommend a Synthesizer. A bit more expensive than midi keyboards but it plays you don't need a computer.
@HybridDragons14 жыл бұрын
@OllieTheWiseOne You can use it with any DAW. I think it even has a pre loaded preset pre installed for cubase... However if you're planning to buy and use it on FL studio - you're gonna have one heck of a time setting it up!

Curious does it have a speaker and can it play along without pc or amplifier?
@andrewljohns4 жыл бұрын
No speakers. There are three 1/4" jacks on the back side of the keyboard, one of them may be for headphones or line out(I can't tell from the pics I've seen, they're too blurry). It has no built-in speakers though, so you will at least need an amp or go into the P.A. to make sound.

My grand piano's keys don't make sound at all.. if they make sound its because they keys are hitting something below them which won't happen if what makes the keys stop is the actually connection and resistance between the strings and the hammer. So no.. it actually depends on how your instrument is rigged.

I did agree with your comment though. Complaining about the keys making noise, pfft. I doubt it's much louder than on a real piano. And yes, I make no sense, mate. I want a hug. That's the end of it. I have an Akai MPK88 and there's one feature I am very displeased about. The keys are heavy to push down, and I do mean heavy like motherfuckers. If you play the piano, you know in some songs when you make a rolling type sound by alternating between two keys right next to each other very fast, repeatedly? Such an action is made difficult because these keys are much harder to push down than on an average real piano. As a result, I find that when I play on my Akai, I make a lot more errors in the tempo because of the hardness of the keys, but when I play on a real piano, I am surprised at how well I am keeping the rhythm of the music played.

@KingUDERZO I actually bought the Fatar VMK 188 plus and I just love it, I doubt the Akai will beat it when it comes to the keys. And since it is alot cheaper than the Akai I can just buy a Novation Remote SL Zero and get really nice knobs and sliders. Fatars main business is to do high-end masterkeyboards, something they have done a long time so I tested that and a CME UF80 and even if the CME felt pretty damn good the Fatar was better, it followed your fingers nice and felt close to a grand.
@transcendtheskiesca12 жыл бұрын
