It would be awesome if they did eventually release something more like what you describe. I definitely think the Akai Fire is worth the price though (especially since there's now a version that comes without FL Studio bundled in for less than half the cost of the version with FL - which is nice for people who already have the daw). I find the "keyboard" function pretty difficult to use, and it's not touch sensitive - but I use mine alongside an M-Audio KeyStudio anyhow. FL Studio has long been one of my favourite DAWs and I've always wondered why companies didn't make more hardware controllers specifically designed to work with it.

A standalone soundboard with play functions running along the top would be ideal. Match that with an sd card, bluetooth and a lithium battery and you could crush consumerism. #sipstea

Is there a way that it will move the grid automatically for me as I am playing back my patterns for example instead of me having to click my next 16 pads (grid button once) can it automatically move to the next grid for me?
@sweetwater6 жыл бұрын
Hello, NickyJay! At the moment, there isn't a way to get the grid on the Fire to scroll along automatically. The only way to navigate to the next 16 steps is to press the button on the unit. That might be something the folks at AKAI decide to address in a firmware update, but it depends on how many people request that feature. Thanks for your interest! You didnt even use the step sequencer function in this vid lol - Just saying, that's a pretty weird oversight to make, especially since it's the aspect/feature of the controller that I enjoy most, and certainly the one that made me buy it. It just makes drum programming way more fun, since if feels a bit more like using an actual hardware drum machine.

I wish you would've showed us actually making the beat. I want something where I can input steps on the fly with a MIDI controller and not with a mouse. Can this do that?
@TheDarkness21464 жыл бұрын
Yup thats what it is made for It's like a modern workflow, when you can actually set up things and browse through FL on a MIDI controller instead of your mouse only If you like a more modern/hybrid workflow and tapping on real buttons - this thing should be the right one for you!

Can u config this controller with your 3rd part VST”s like kontakt 5, & omnisphere,
@sweetwater6 жыл бұрын
Hi, Jeremy! I took a look through the Akai FIRE manual - cdn.inmusicbrands.com/akai/Fire-UserGuide-v1.0.pdf - and there is no mention of VST support. It only covers control of the DAW itself. So one would reason that it's FL Studio only. We know it controls FL Studio's Channel Rack, Browser, Tool Bar, & Playlist with ease and does a great job with FPC and SliceX, too. But I wasn't comfortable not knowing for sure. So I got in contact with Akai and I'm told, "It is a full midi controller and will support plugins." So if you're an FL Studio user, I can't see not having one of these. Give us call to place your order. Thanks for your question! @sweetwater6 жыл бұрын
Hello, Don! AKAI hasn't addressed note repeat specifically in the manual for the Fire (perhaps because it is so new), but you can certainly do that function within FL Studio, which this is meant to control. Here is the full downloads page for the Fire, showing all of the videos and the manual: fire.akaipro.com/index.html#downloads Thanks for your interest! @@sweetwater Do you need to have an existing version of Fl studio already on your pc in order to use it, or can you simply begin using it with the fire edition software it comes with?

The AKAI Fire includes the "Fruity" edition of FL studio, which is a lite copy of FL. Question: this is coming from a complete novice. So please forgive if this is a stupid question. Is there any way to integrate this with Logic. Or would it be a matter of recording a beat and then adding the recording to Logic for mixing?
@sweetwater6 жыл бұрын
Hi, Tquan. Thanks for reaching out! At the current point in time there is not a way to integrate this unit with Logic. It's currently meant to only be used with FL Studio. However, you can always transfer files from FL Studio in Logic for further fine tuning! Rock On! Philip Courtney, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1968
