akai hardware sampler MPC 2000 and 2000 XL EB16 Effects FX board.Also works with the S3000XL and the S2000 units. The multi-effects channels provide distortion, EQ, ring modulation, a choice of modulation effects that includes chorus, phasing, flanging, pitch shifting, and rotary speaker emulation, as well as echo/delay and reverb. The reverb-only channels add 2 additional reverbs for a total of 4 independent reverbs. All EB16 effects are extensively editable and custom multi-effects configurations can be stored in 50 effect presets. An additional 50 presets are reserved just for reverbs.

Great demo. It's a really expressive card with a character oldschool sound, I especially like the chorused basses. Many forums write it off as rubbish but they're missing the point, plus oldskool doesn't sound right through posh reverbs!

These boards do fit in the mpc2k and the XL too, sounds great! Agreed with the warmth of analog and by using analog & digital together for the best of both worlds :D

Pretty much all the effects on the eb-16 are amazing for lofi production, they are exactly the type of old crusty effects with a certain cruddy charm you'd want.

Nice demo, I'm gonna have to try this out myself. I too got a bonus EB16 in a CD3000XL that I bought recently which the previous owner wasn't aware of. I haven't read through the manual properly yet so didn't know you could press edit when you're on the effects page

I too want the cd3000xl . There is one right now for 650, new screen , eb card and emulator and scsisd . I'm just not too familiar with scsisd

I got a EB16 in my MPC2kXL love the board ! it gives a nice icing to the akai samplers, I even ordered a pricy IB304f but it wasnt working when I boshed it into my 3000xl :,(. Maybe the Sampler Port has a issue, gonna check the board in the sampler of my friend. But ye these cards are around for a while now they might fall out by now since the chips get old (IB304f).

A lot of the rack samplers have been harvested of the effects and outputs because they fit the MPC too. So sad.

Interesting - a lot of these effects sounds the same as the effects on the modern mpc's... you get effects from the company air, but also Akai's digital fx and i'm sure the codes the same for these

Those latest offerings from Akai actually derived from the mpc 5000, which in turn was based off the Alesis fusion . Apparently the best effects Akai had to offer was on the s1100, can’t vouch for that, as never heard one in action.

true, but those old digital effects have audible imperfections, kinda lo fi. but most analog synths have digital components, so the whole analog digital thing is more like a selling talk tbh. true analog stuff is pain to work with.

The EB16 is digital, not analog, tho.

I think the distinction he is going for is "hardware versus DAW/VST" since all the AKAI stuff is digital with a few analog components at the D/A and A/D (and a few really old 80's AKAI samplers like S612 do actually have analog filters)

Me too, freaking love my s3kXL and the EB16, but its all digital processing, its just that the processing has artefacts so a bit crappy like the old alesis quardaverbs etc so is really distinvtive sound associated with that time. Great sounds, great video comparison thanks Bizzy!
