Jesus christ if i have to hear one more american black man talk about thomas sowell like hes some wise sage im gonna fricken scream! Thomas Sowell is a lying cherry picking nasty piece of work. google him. look at how other prominant black civil rights activists talk about him. hes a professor who talks very well and his voice has such gravitas that he seems so wise and clever. but hes actually the worst kind of person. hes spent 50 years telling young black americans that theres no such thing as racism and that its black peoples own fault that they are poor. as an educated english man, even i know this is bollocks. if your a black american, ask yourself have you ever expeirenced racism in your country?..... yes?... then thomas sowell is a liar isnt he. thomas sowell is very rich and he thinks anyone can just get rich if they want to. but they dont want to because of rap music and tattoos and what he calls "black culture". its ludicrous. its not black peoples fault that they found themselves as second class citizens in the 20th century. its very much white peoples fault. that is EXACTLY what akala is saying in his lyrics. Akala recomends reading X, Garvey, King, Ali, etc. Akala would never recomend a snake oil salesman like Sowell. "donald trump is a great man and will make a great president" thomas sowell 2016

I'd have been really interested to her what your guest had to say... a conversation is best when folk listen and respond, ya know... but kewl reaction Akala is like the godfather of UK conscious rap... rap is a US medium but it has influenced so many disenfranchised people around the world, most of whom are aware of world history (which includes that of the USA) Re: ending slavery - Africans, AfroBrits and freed people from the various americas built solidarity with 'white' Irish &British working class activists, feminists (before they were called that), religious/faith based campaigners and others in the UK to influence 'owners' & other politcal classes in the UK to make slavery technically illegal in the UK before other parts of the (ex)colonies. Those same owners/political classes however continued to profit from slavery in the americas throughout its existance and still profit from those structures to this day and the UK government continued to pay lost 'earnings' into C21st, reparations to slave owning families only ended in 2015.... so yeh and nah.

If parts of history offend then that's a good thing. We are a lot less likely to repeat those things. Don't cancel it. Learn from it. Correct, the tax payers of England finished paying of the debt for abolishing slavery in 2014.

Great Britain was the first country to abolish slavery they made the rest of their allies agree to sign a treaty because they was the ones who ruled the sea’s at the time so it was beneficial for other country’s to agree because a lot of the trade routes was controlled by the British navy 🇬🇧 they was the most feared on the 7 sea’s and other countries wouldn’t be able to trade freely without any repercussions! Do some research it’s really interesting history to see how far we’ve come ✊🏽

It wasn't Britain that ended slavery first, it was England, which is part of the island of Great Britain. This was long before there was a United Kingdom, which is all of it apart from the Republic of Ireland. It was after the battle of Hastings in 1066 that the new English king, William the conqueror made slavery illegal in England.

Akala All 4 fire in the booth is dope asf. Slavery started in mesopotamia 3500 BC, so 5000 years before USA existed.(it def either started un US our ended it) Denmark end slavery 1792 Sweden forbid slavery like 1300 but didn't end there, Sweden are little Like US,alot of our history isnt talked about, trying to be perfect, hypocrite. but we where really early with rap, especially mainstream.:) The far richest black people are from Nigeria, Dangote 15 ,billion, Rabu 10 billion.aldo fourth richest black I's from Nigeria aduenga,3rd Smith from US,5th butsuba South Africa. So black billionaires in US are entertainment, sports, Jordan, Tiger Woods, Rihanna, lebron James etc. Like he said in UK Chinese Indian earns most median income before white.(Asians earns most overall in The world I think And Only about 6 percent of African captives were sent directly to North America. But UK brought millions of slaves to Us, white people aswell actually. Forgotten The White European Slaves of Islam Long before aswell. Also 1,500,000 million white slaves were shipped to North Africa. The Inca Empire are rather fascinating never practiced slavery. Countries That Wre Never Colonized I's Japan, Liberia, Bhutan, Thailand, Iran, Nepal, tonga, china, corea. Always Good with history:) But today you can't talk about anything so not gonna solve anything, poor people killing poor basically everywhere. In Sweden we never had gangster rap until last 15 year's And so Many got killed lately. Before it was Moore like "fight the system" mentality. We couldn't use*African swedish* that would be racist adf, that US still use term race is crazy. When you swedish citizens you swedish!(offciurse their is racist here aswell, Maybee Moore racism Not depends on skin color but now in Us you use term different) But we grewing up listen to 2pac was Moore brought kids together so extremely hard understand people treated shit because of skin color because never an issue our something we talked about Moore we -vs them.
