I discovered Akala because of his lectures at Oxford and when I gave his music a listen I was just blown away with his ability to make reading and educating yourself hip, rapping about the real history of slavery and the Haitian revolt against the Empires of England and France. The French ended up having to sell a larch part of America a bit cheeky considering the land actually belongs to the native people but that's another story. I am what you might call a metal head I love moshing at Slipknot gigs but now at 45 years old I went to a rap concert with Lowkey and Mic Righteous and danced my ass off for four hours and love every act there were about six different performances. I would love to see Lowkey and Akala on the same stage I know they have worked together but not in Manchester with me in attendance.
