It's been a few months, but we were recently contacted by Akaso, and there is some good news to share! They are trying hard to make this right, and ensure we're satisfied. We'll be creating an update to this Akaso V50X review soon, as well as some additional different camera reviews. Please don't forget to like, subscribe, and check out our other videos. Thanks! -GeezeRider

I bought the v50x in July this year (2022). And the microphone is great! The speaker on the camera itself however isn't very good. Audio sounds like it's full of static however when played from a computer it sounds just FINE even without having to turn the volume way up.

Hello Jay, Thank you for sharing this information. Hopefully others will find it helpful. It sounds (no pun intended) like Akaso may have finally addressed the audio issues of the V50X in the more recent production runs. Hopefully this is the case. Ride Safe, Namaste. -GeezeRider

I have just bort an Akaso V50X I run a holiday company we are trying out the camera and will get back to you about the audio and I will be honest what we think of it audio is very important! The internal mic is rubbish but not tried the external mic yet?
@GeezeRider2 жыл бұрын
Hello Henry's, Please let us know how it works with the external microphone. Unfortunately, I keep hearing of people who have recently purchased a V50X and they're having the same audio problems as we (and others) documented going back several years ago at this point. Given that span of time, they can't ALL be old units in the channel, which leads me to believe that Akaso is now KNOWINGLY still selling defective products. :-( I'll probably do a follow-up video on this sometime this year. Ride Safe, Namaste. -GeezeRider

Is there a mount that can tilt up and down like the underwater case, but doesn't trap the cam inside a case and screws the sound?
@GeezeRider3 жыл бұрын
Hello Littleman787, while I'm not sure specifically about the V50X, I know other cameras have cases available with vent slits that allow heat to dissipate and allow the microphone to better pick up sound. Obviously those are of little use underwater unless the camera itself is waterproof. Not sure if you're asking to record audio underwater? Not a lot of options there for clear audio. If you are just looking for a case that will allow you to mount and tilt while still recording audio, there are several options. I bought an aluminum frame for my DJI Osmo Action (watch my videos on the DJI for more detail) from a company called SmallRig www.smallrig.com/products/cameras.html and mounted a 1" RAM ball mount to the bottom of it for moto vlogging. I can also attach a tripod mount (1/4" 20) for studio work. There are several other companies that offer similar high quality camera mount frames in metal and composites. I hope this information helps you. Ride safe, Namaste. -GeezeRider

Hi there, thanks for your review, but I couldn't fix chopping video from my v50x. Use it as FPV, attached to my airplane and, comparing to, GoPro 7 couldn't get smooth enough video, just jumping, chopping, when I'm turning my bird, but not smooth. What should be done? Actually I'm using settings - 2K60fp, Image Stab ON, Gyro ON. Thanks.

Hello Alex, The only other settings I can think for you to try changing would be "Distortion Calibration" or Still Photo (turn it off), but I'll be honest and say that those are just guesses. My best suggestion would be to contact Akaso support and see if they're able to assist you. E-mail: cs@akasotech.com Tel: (888) 466-9222 (US) Mon-Fri (except holiday) 9am-5pm (EST) Official website: www.akasotech.com Best of luck, and please let us know what you find out. I'm sure others would be interested or benefit. -GeezeRider

@@GeezeRider Thank you for quick response, I will try your changing and even more - gyro to OFF, too. Will fly again and see how it's working.

Hi Alex, I forgot to mention, and you may have already done this: If modifying the settings previously discussed does not resolve your issue, please make sure the firmware on your V50X is up to date by contacting Akaso support, who states: "If there is a problem with your camera, please check the firmware version in “Settings” and send the version number to cs@akasotech.com for professional support."

UPDATE Akaso made this right!! On 03/16/2021 I was contacted by Akaso support. In short, they were very disappointed my previous experience wasn't satisfactory, and in order to make things right, offered a replacement camera free of charge. The replacement camera was a V50 Pro, which I feel is comparable to the V50X for my needs, and it is working well. Obviously whatever support issues they may have had are being addressed, and customer satisfaction is their goal. Our communications were clear, professional, and amicable. Their currently demonstrated dedication to customer satisfaction is what I look for in a company, and I would buy from them again. As for the V50X I originally bought, it appears they had identified the problem and made corrections to production of new units. They have told me they are NOT having audio issues in the newer V50X cameras. I just happened to receive an older one that had the issue. In summary, you should be able to buy a new Akaso V50X with confidence in the camera, as well as Akaso. I'll be updating this video soon to reflect the info noted above.

Hi there, finally I get replacement for V50X, it's AKASO PRO SE, but video is still bumping. Could you, please, tell me what V50 PRO did you get, they have several PRO and, probably, I will ask to replace again. And, one more thing - did you test STABILIZATION on your cam, does it really work? Thanks
@GeezeRider3 жыл бұрын
@@alextaranov4655 Hello Alex, The replacement they sent me is the standard V50Pro. The V50Pro is a slightly older model within the Akaso lineup, so doesn't have the stabilization quality of a DJI Osmo Action (Rock Steady), or the newer GoPro's. However, it should be able to produce serviceable video even when it is physically in motion provided it's not mounted to a jackhammer or something. My personal experience with the V50 Pro stabilization is that it definitely helps vs. having it turned off, but again, it's not as stable as more expensive cameras. I think you're on the right track as far as contacting support is concerned. Send them sample footage from your videos with the undesired behavior. Be sure to include your camera's current firmware version, and ALL the setting you were using when you made the videos in question. It's a bit of a pain documenting all of that up front, but believe me, it will save you time with support in the long run. Best of luck, and please come back and let us know your progress. Ride Safe, Namaste. -GeezeRider

The newer model V50X microphone (internal) is still very poor on my model. Not very loud playback to the point I have to crank the volume up on my PC to max.
@GeezeRider2 жыл бұрын
Hello skytalon 74, thanks for your update. It's disappointing to hear you're experiencing the same symptom on a more recently produced version of the V50X. Your test results sound very similar to what I experienced with the unit I had. For the benefit of others researching this camera, can you please specify if you're referring to the internal, or external (lavalier/lapel) microphone (or if the results were the same either internal or external?), and how long ago you bought the camera? When I spoke to them, Akaso was adamant the issue was limited to a small production run and the problem had since been fixed. They claimed that they had no way to recall the "bad" cameras from the supply chain, so a few of these "bad" units might still show up as "new sales" as people bought out the remaining stock of old units. It may also be helpful to know where you purchased your camera (Directly from Akaso, Amazon, BestBuy, eBay, etc.), and if it was advertised as refurbished or not, so we can determine where the "old stock"/problematic units are coming from.

@@GeezeRider My camera is a new purchase of the V50X on Amazon a week ago. It does seem like the audio (from internal microphone) is a bit clearer and not muffled sounding as some of the videos I've seen on KZbin but the decibel level is not very high, as I mentioned that I need to crank the volume to the max from either my laptop or even iPhone. The package was fully sealed and had the surface protections for the lens and back touch screen so I believe it is new. The firmware was also recent with 20211115 V4. I did also reach out to Akaso support to see if there was a firmware update, as I noticed that when recording on 2.7K/30 resolution the footage recorded is very jittery; and only at 17fps. My SD card is capable and 4K works fine but there is an issue on mine with 2.7K/30. Here is a sample I sent to them: drive.google.com/file/d/14d57VmqlPxqwFfZ0JiP8eODi8yIpsgcO/view?usp=sharing

Did you change in the camera setup that you will be using external mic? Because if you do not make this set up, camera still use internal microphone, not external ...
@GeezeRider3 жыл бұрын
Hello Stefan, you are correct; and yes, I did try all the permutations, both on my own, and with Akaso tech support online going through the settings/testing step by step. Unfortunately, the result was the same in that the audio was simply broken in that particular camera. Thank you for your question, -GeezeRider
