Don’t rush it. I was the person in my 30’s living at home and I rushed moving out and not fully having a plan. Now I regret it some. I moved for my mental health. I needed my space because being at home was stressful. I have a helicopter mom even in my 30’s and it was too much. Take your time trust me it will be so worth it in the end because if I could change some things I definitely would.

If what you want is not significantly more than $2k, it ain’t worth having a moving company. I always just shipped whatever didn’t fit in my car that I wanted when I did cross country moves. If you fly out with Southwest Airlines you get 2 checked bags for free. And it would only be one way so you could probably take more than 2 bags back on a plane for less than shipping a box. And actually, if your dad is coming out too, you could use his 2 free checked bags to bring stuff back too. You might not even need to pay for any additional luggage. However, shipping like 4 boxes is probably like $300. Just buy a new vacuum or get a sponsorship. Also check marketplace for higher quality pieces. Sorry about keeping editing this post, but you could fall in love with the clearance rack at west elm, pottery barn, c & b, etc.

Girl I LOVE your videos and I will always be on board, especially since I’m on a similar journey to you, but I’m also a semi-recent subscriber and I wanted to speak on a minor reason why people may be dropping off / unsubscribing. Please know I’m saying this constructively because I personally don’t mind it (since to me your channel has quality videos to enjoy), but the main thing that tends to turn me away from other channels is when people sit and chat for 15+ minutes in the same setting multiple times in one video. That’s something I noticed on your channel, and trust me I’m down with it, but if it was another channel that I was still trying to get used to, then I would likely be turned off by having long chats with the same background and nothing else really happening. Not saying people have to keep their convos to 2 minutes flat to appeal to short attention spans, but sometimes the 30 minute breakdowns of something can be a lot if people are actively watching and don’t just have this playing in the background. Since I go back and forth from cleaning / cooking and watching and actually sitting down and watching, I tend to do better when long convos are broken up and displaced throughout the video (with some action or daily stuff in between). That’s just how my brain functions and I know other people function differently and love a good long chat, Lord knows I love one when it’s about a topic I’m interested in, but that’s just something to consider as you think about your content. Long stuff is so great and it always gets me so hype, but it depends on what the content is that makes it long. Anywho, love your stuff and can’t wait for the moving journey. I’m currently in a debt payoff journey and really value the honesty people share online! ❤️

I agree with what someone else mentioned about flying Southwest and trying to fit whatever you can in 4 suitcases. But, as someone else whose moved cross country a few times, $2000 is a great price considering the distance and will save you a huge headache if you feel as though the things that you are shipping is worth that price, either in monetary value or even sentimental as with your baby blanket. I would highly discourage you from shipping boxes via UPS or Fedex. The cheapest way to do is via Ground, and in one move that was maybe half the distance of yours, I shipped around 6 boxes. This cost me (this was years ago) over $100 a box and when I tell you my stuff arrived TRASHED. The boxes were bent, wet, and many things inside (I mostly shipped clothes) were ruined and one box was even lost for weeks. But, if you ship “normal”, at that point you might as well have gone with the moving company since the price will be very high.

Unless you have personal documents or irreplaceable sentimental items, it may be cheaper and less of an ordeal to just let the unit go & let them auction it off. You’ve gone without it this long… Continuing to pay $300 a month until the move, $2000+ for movers, travel, hotel, food for a week, expenses for whomever helps you and etc is going to add up.

Personally if I had the funds, I’d hire the movers. I too have to be mentally prepared for a cross country road trip. Plus the money spent on hotels(I be staying in comfortable hotels too) food, gas…might as well have the peace of mind and get movers.

Please, please, please …Plan a road trip with your brother or a good friend. Stay in L.A. for a week. Make it a declutter week. This could also give you great content. Outside gyms and all. Meet old friends. Maybe get a stand at a flea market. Could be fun.

Dad is actually a good idea - you won’t have to meet creeps alone. Also maybe make a selling profile with your dad‘s and your name - or do like Cindy and Dave 😂 - like an older couple. I would guess that would seem trustworthy for potential buyers and you’ll get rid of stuff quicker. 🎉
