My Belgium Shepard loves the Lure course Mr. Baggie at Tuner Oregon. We were there yesterday with three of her dog friends.

That is like saying that labs should be the only water dogs. As long as the dog enjoys it, who cares what the breed is.

What are you talking about it says open to all breeds?

SO many Debbie downers!!! Yes Coursing is a sport orig. for Sight hounds,,BUT there are PLENTY of other breeds capable of chasing down prey as well. I hate all the sour grapes comments here!!! This sport is a Great way to get out & be active w/ ur dog NO matter what breed,I personally Love a Vesatile dog,& my breed is just that SO we LOVE showing off the Handsome,,,Versatile American Staffordshire Terrier!!! FYI ,,i hav eseen Whippets w/ NO interest in the Lure,Just sayin,

The course is at least 600 yards (300 yards for small dogs). The object is for the dog to chase the lure completely around the course with enthusiasm and without interruption in under 2 minutes (90 seconds for small dogs). Doing so earns the dog a leg toward a title. These are the titles: Three passes = Coursing Ability (CA) Ten total passes = Coursing Ability Advanced (CAA) Twenty five total passes = Coursing Ability Excellent (CAX) Fifty total passes = CAX2

This looks like great exercise. My dog isn't interested in chasing a ball...unless it's the Chuck it Erratic. This also looks like a good socializing event. I'm wondering if he would be interested in this. Great video.

My German Shepherd flies and after one round the next day he memorized the course and cut it off. He is amazing pup.

Coursing is a good way to have fun with your dog. No reason to be a downer. I've watched a few dogs start chasing and then stop because they don't have the drive. Some don't even take a second look at it. Other dogs become so stressed at a venue that they can't focus. Others have medical issues that prevent them from participating or completing the course. Overweight dogs are also less likely to complete it.

I took my whippet, Indi, lure coursing a few years ago. In the middle of the course she did a bad tumble but got up and kept running. She's been sick with IMHA for the past six months and isn't doing well.

This will be awesome for my beagle who just won't hunt with his nose (like he is supposed to). I took him out of rabbit field trials because he always sights the rabbit.

This sport has nothing to do with anything its a recruitment gimmick like the wiffleball thing.

My Dane would love this, too bad it’s too expensive to get a lure machine and that there’s no where near us that has one.

seriously? not one sighthound in your video? I can understand letting other dogs participate, but if you are going to demonstrate coursing in a video why not throw a greyhound or saluki in the video too? I mean give me a break! Sighthounds were breed for coursing!
@americankennelclub7 жыл бұрын
All dog breeds can participate AKC Coursing Ability and only sighthounds can participate the Lure Coursing. Here is a video about the Lure Coursing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nofUnZxnosusjbs

I was thinking the exact same thing. I think I saw one Basenji early in the video, that's as close as you're gonna get. There was a heeler who cut across the course to meet the lure head-on, which is exemplary behavior from a herding dog - but my god, where are the dogs actually bred for this sport?
@sarahlawson31416 жыл бұрын
This video is literally to demonstrate that other dogs other than sighthounds can do coursing.

really?? ugh, should ONLY he a hound sport! watching other breeds do this is funny as hell! Watch the WHIPPETS and other hounds as they are the BEST at this.. not STUPID hunting dogs!
@kirstensmith20546 жыл бұрын
Lisa L. Gove Whippets were bred to hunt rabbits (run fast), so technically they are hunting dogs.
