Early childhood is a critical period of development, with lifelong implications for a child’s growth and success. Mwinyi attended Rasul Akram Early Childhood Development School in Kwale, Kenya, where his teacher, Bahati, helped set the foundation for his education journey. As one of AKF’s longstanding education programs, the Madrasa Early Childhood Programme (MECP) has transformed early childhood development for over a million students like Mwinyi.
Beginning in 1985, Canada provided early start-up funding as one of MECP’s first international partners. It continues to work with MECP to support thousands of teachers like Bahati who are shaping a world where every child has access to quality education.
