5 seconds in, I'm already in love with these switches. Whoever came up with the penguin color scheme deserves a raise.

bought some today, both my first silents and my first tactiles and i am in LOVE, got them in my keychron v1 and they are dead silent and the tactility is super satisfying. definitely a high recommendation from me!

They are really surprisingly silent with a nice round taktile bump, I totally agree with everything in your review. Good job Akko indeed.

It's nice to see that there are so many different options for silent tactiles. I'm honestly considering going for some in my next build but the mushiness worries me

I was not sure the first time I tried Silent Tactile switches, but now I love them!

This is what i need. I love my Akko V3 Cream Blues but I need a more silent switch since cream blues are kinda clacky in my M1W no matter what foam or dampeners I use. The most I can do is Poppy sounds but I want a silent keyboard at night when I finish my work and then proceeds to game after.

Can you review WS Silent Tactile from WS Studio? It's a silent switch that has different way to reduce noise and has good price but I don't know how it sound
@cupkelpie4656 Жыл бұрын
I second that request
@edona_ou Жыл бұрын
The WS Silent Tactile has that similar scratchy kinda sound when you press down on it, but on popping back up it's really loud (when you expect nothing). Some reviews don't seem to showcase that, so I don't know if it's my keycaps, or my keyboard or something else. In comparison, the WS Silent Linears are truly silent on the same keyboard with the same keycaps compared to the Silent Tactile.

I put these switches on my HHKB Studio. They are wonderful. More silent than my HHKB Hybrid Type-S. The switches are heavier than Topre, but have that tactile sensibility like them. Very affordable also. I paid like $13 for 45.

Of all the channels that do reviews on switches, finally a review channel that puts up some numbers in decibels on how loud a switch is as oppose to all those other channels out there that merely do a sound test, aka here's me typing on the keyboard compared to me typing on the same keyboard with another set of switches and letting the viewer figure it out. Is it really that much work to get a sound decibel meter? Like + Subscription for having sound metrics and stats.

I've waited for this review on your channel! Akko Penguin has me wondering if I should try them instead of ordering the more expensive silent Boba U4 switches. I currently use U4T and happy about their feel, but they are very loud in my board (Keychron Q3 with force break and tape mod). They produce a loud "marble" sound instead of the deep, thocky sound I prefer. Interestingly, I tried U4T on my friend's Montech MKey, and there they had a perfect thocky sound, possibly due to the plastic case and plenty of factory-installed dampening material.

So I got Akko Penguin. Immediately noticed that they are almost silent but are very scratchy, bottom out feels a bit mushy. I totally dislike the scratchy feeling of pressing them (and the sound they make during that though it's quiet), I guess they need lubrication but I preferred to return them back. My Boba U4T are extremely snappy in comparison, perhaps U4 will be snappy too. Also, Akko Penguin have "actuation force" 43 gf but it's a totally useless number in my opinion-my U4T 63 gf need just a bit more force to actuate. So the actual force to actuate Akko Penguin is around 60 gf ("bottom out" force from the specs).

These could benefit hand lubing for sure! They are great silent tactile switches for the price, but it's hard to compare with U4 ...

Are this switches better for typing/work in comparison with the Fairy switches? (I need silent stuff) Ty
@ClickandThock2 ай бұрын
I think yess, the tactile bump make it more suitable for typing imo.

I love the comparisons with different keycap sets and other switches! I really helps putting it into focus what the switches are like. However when the list of switches is completely different it kinda defeats all the perspective it could've given. Did you lube these or use them stock? Do you think Lube would help the smoothness or would it ruin the tactile feedback?
@ClickandThock11 ай бұрын
No these are stock! I don't try to lube them... it could help smoothness (but it's great as is) but it's always risky. Thank you!

These are truly silent. Caveat is that they feel albeit mush for my taste. Akko fairy is also similar to the penguins. Also they require a heavy hand, and I like akko blacks and bottom them out a lot. Kailh deep sea whale is still better as a silent switch. Imo. Still a good review nonetheless.
@ClickandThock Жыл бұрын
Have not tried the deep sea yet, will try too! But yeah, the Fairy is very similar to this one! Thank you!
