​@xaustedbrain2369 I thought the same but it turned out that the original song belongs to the gospel artist Jermaine Edwards, his name is mentioned in Akon's song credits. The kid Rushawn just sang it in his own style and made it go viral but he doesn't own its rights. Edwards himself said that " Rushawn gave new life to the song" and he did his best to help. He met with Rushawn and his mother and gave him a share of the song monetization earnings. They also signed a contract with Sony music UK that guarantees Rushawn gets a percentage of whatever his voice and his image is used on. I receive royalties as the composer and writer and owner of the masters and he will get royalties as a performer.
