You did the right choice girl 👍. My friend has auditioned and it was just a waste of time, money and energy. She is regrets now . When you auditioning, if you are talented , quite pretty with a good voice , you have pretty high chances to get recruted. But when its come to make it as an idol... the chances are just over 2 to 5% with all the crazy competition. And even if you are debuting with a group, there are few chance that its last on long term unless you are in a big compagny. I also wanted to be a trainee, but my friend just make me realize that its just unnecessary, that its not worth it and i have also watched a lot of experiences of ex-trainee on youtube, they all share the same finding : waste of time !

I too is a dreamer but I dropped out of it because I have a lot more that I wanna explore. So to you guys who are trying to audition or want to go audition then take the chance, you guys can try out new things! Goodluck to you all people! And also you don't have to be already talented, skinny (a preferred body type mostly by korean and companies) and other good features you see on idols, you guys are going to be called a trainee because you're gonna train for those things you lack to become an idol so don't worry if you guys think that you aren't qualified enough to be one! Again, goodluck everyone💜

*_Just my unimportant opinion:_* Trying is *NEVER WRONG.* Dreaming is *NEVER WRONG.* Trying to pursure your dream is *NEVER WRONG.* *_Those who discourage are the ones who are afraid to try themselves or tried and failed and now they wanna see others fail._* No matter if you're asian or not, just give it a try. K-pop companies doesn't only debut Idols who sing and dance, they also debut actors and models and also back-up dancers (correct me if I'm wrong about that last point). And if you got the experience from that (either u passed and withdraw one day or not), it's great in case you wanna audition for something in America for example or wherever to mention in your biography. *Don't get discouraged, but be realistic with your own skills* 💖 There's always room to improve though. *FIGHTING* 💪

A lot of comments here are aspiring trainees and i really want to say it here. Before i was once like you , i admired k-pop idols ( i still do but i only stan 1 group now) to the point that i want to be a kpop idol myself. I was around 13-14 at that time and like you i was constantly searching for ways how to nail an audition and even learning korean but then that all was just thrown away. On the outside, kpop idol life may be beautiful and the amount of fame the idols are receiving are tempting and their performance but behind that lies a very scary, hard background. The idols that you see now have sacrificed a lot to get there but still after debut some of them dont even make it and those years training goes wasted. This Profession is a gamble there are even trainees who trained even after 10 years and still didnt debut . You all said just work hard with passion and you will achieve your dreams well i'm sorry but this is the reality, if it worked like that a lot of people would be rich right now. Its luck and how people like you ( but there also cases where this doesnt work) to build a solid career in this industry. Talent is like a side dish in that profession and especially in Korea where beauty is most important in their society now, i wonder how your life will be. I'm not hating on the industry or the country but first learn more and look outside the box. Remember you'll only regret things when it is done. Think it really through if you're for this profession , if you got the looks, charisma and talent. Imagine that you're a korean producer or like a higher up in an entertainment would they like you? Would they waste their time on you? Just think. Dreams are a good thing but dont forget reality.

I respect people’s opinion to all the people that say you can’t make it as an idol but you have to look at it this way, at the end of the day kpop groups are makeing hip-pop music which comes from the black community but people don’t say anything about this but when a non Asian person wants to be a Kpop star y’all have something to say. Kpop groups always want to use the hip-pop package which is a bandanna and braids. Bprania Alex was the first ever black Kpop idol to be put out there but as always people had rasist things to say,but that didn’t make her quite. As in one of there performances Alex only sang her part and went off the stage which was really embarrassing. As bprania was gaining attention and people started loving her even tho she didn’t know Korean people still accepted her as a idol. Her company started giving her more lines and putting her in dances. As soon as Alex said he was quite being in the group. the group just went down hill and the company ended bprania. If a non Asian person is willing to do the same hard work as a normal trainee I don’t see the problem.

Honestly when people say this I get pissed off. Asians are the least represented by the western media. They do not get a chance for fame on the American music stage or in the American movies. So these people created their own. In their own country. And out of all people you black fans criticize that. They should not wear your hairstyles or act like you, I agree. But to say they basically owe you because you guys shaped our today music is weird. Being respected should be enough. Koreans not wanting other races in their industry is understandable when you think about the way they are treated outside their country. I'm not saying black people are treated way better but you guys do have more representation and you are basically shaping the trends in America. While for Asian people there is literally nothing.. Let's be honest all you non-asian fans only want to be a kpop idol because it looks more fun and new to you. There is no other explanation considering the fact y'all have a chance on your own music stage in your own country.
@moonchildbruh8565
@moonchildbruh8565 4 жыл бұрын
win win okay I get ur point, I really do. Asians over all aren’t represented at all in American media and even when they are they’re still heavily criticised or stereotyped. Taking BTS as an example which have become global sensations. Many people don’t even take the time to listen to them or understand what they’re doing, they’re just quick to hate. I get being a kpop fan can make u become an idol because it looks all shiny and fun. But there are people who genuinely want to do the work to become one. I’m Asian too, ( not usually included when talking bout Asians lol I’m Indian), and I understand I don’t rlly get included in the circle but I understand it is extremely hard work. If someone is up for it, then they should go for it. Whatever happens afterwards is their fault and their success. Having someone who is non Asian or even someone not south East Asian doesn’t seem like a big deal. When Z stars debuted. More people were pissed they weren’t singing in korean over the fact that there were 2 Indians on the team. If these people actually train and learn the language I think they’re good to go.
@ongakira
@ongakira 4 жыл бұрын
win win mam Asians really do not care about foreigners being in kpop. So why should you?? And, it’s harder to make it in the western industry than korean industry tbh. The western industry doesn’t function the korean one, and it’s hard to make a career anyway. You’ll probably just start small for like five years and it’s a tiny chance that you’ll blow up. So yea, and as a dark skinned blasian, no I don’t have representation, all the people I have are light skinned black women who past the beauty standard. (And girl, you sound mega racist. What do you have against black people?? Cuz it’s not just black people criticizing

The reason so many girls of different ethnicities want to join kpop is because in the USA there are no “companies” to join. Our music system is so much worse. We don’t debut or join a company. We aren’t guided. KPOP is. You join a company, work hard and other people decide if you’re good enough.
@rxnitx7707

3angel THIS. For real, I’ve seen way to many people wanting to join a Korean company and I think it is mainly because the whole company/trainee thing does not exist here. But who knows? Maybe they are seeing this as an opportunity to create a western group that trained using the korean training system, that would be really interesting and super appealing for younger generations.

Marky no like some people speak out of the mere fact to break others dreams , like im too lazy tbh to explain my point and even tho being a kpop idol is way too far from my interests , but those saying non asians cant audition are just plain toxic , sorry if it offends you or anything but as an asian who lived for few years in korea before going back to their homecountry , that idea is wrog , sure they most likely wont debut , but it depends on talent and which agency they go to , and the importance of visuals vary from company to other Please dont get offended but this is my whole idea about some parts of the reply section

I think other countries should adopt this idea, the idea of auditioning and training. I am pretty sure this will make things easier, they should make more groups to make the culture known. Not every one who likes singing and dancing want to be a Kpop star or don’t have a chance to. It will be better if other countries really adopt this idea. This will improve the chances. That’s just what I think.

I’m going to be brutally honest. If you’re bad at singing, rapping, and dancing but you want to be a kpop idol, then there’s definitely a problem there. And I respect all the people who are encouraging you to follow your dreams and try hard, but sometimes you have to face reality. These companies don’t take you in if you suck at those things, especially if you’re not Asian. They take you in if you’re already good at at least 1 of those, so that they can make you very above average. And it’s very rare that anyone will go from brutally sucking to being really above average in under 5 years. Starting off being bad and then upgrading to average is not how it works. Starting off good and upgrading to above average is how it works. Unless your company is very patient with you. Think about it, if you audition for let’s say, JYP, do you think they’re going to take you in if you audition with bad singing, bad rapping, or bad dancing? “Ohmygosh this girl SUCKS at singing. Let’s accept her!” no.

Ella Rafisura Honestly, the US and UK markets are doing very well and are good careers to take paths on. But for some reason, I guess people want to try something new once in a while and be different I guess. K-Pop isn’t really an ‘international thing’ compared to music in US and UK, so having more and more people wanting to try this gives them a little more hmmm idk how to say this...I guess a new experience to grow on •o•

You would not be picked at all ! You have a better chance of winning the lottery. You can do anything you want but remember this, in Kpop it’s not just cool music videos and pretty outfits. It’s brutal. Don’t go into it wanting to meet your Oppa and Unnie and marry them because that’s not how it will go.

@Silent. no its not work like that ! Im pretty sure you must have around 11,12 years old, but being determined is not enough in that industry. Do you realize how the competitivity is huge in this ? There are thousands of girls who have tried and fall, even with all the determination possible. If there are better than you, its over girl ! And even those you are better have few chances to make it...keep dreaming ✌

@Silent. i have already answered you in other comment. Im not a troll, and im not the kind of person who take pleasure to '' destroy '' the dreams of people, but the thing is i have the impression that so many of you overestimate yourself and totaly underestimate others ( there is a gap between overestimate and have confidence too). I think that you're are all just fan of kpop who love to see your favorite idol dancing and singing on scene, that you now all want to become an idol like them. Dancing and singing is before all, a passion. The vast majority of people in the comments dont even know how to dance or sings, they maybe would dancing on a kpop song, but if you put something which is not kpop, im pretty sure that they absolutely dont know and dont want too. Its not what i called '' being passionate'' by dance or sings... they just worship the idea of becoming an idol because its cool (like their oppa and unnie)thats all. Im pretty sure that youre not that stubborn and you must be intelligent, you are 15..

I used to want to be a K-pop idol. I think that MOST K-pop fans have gone through that. I stopped that dream though, when reality hit me. They're MANY reasons why I didn't want to be an idol anymore. Here's a few. #1. Looks. Being non-asian slims down your chances by a lot, I mean why do you think the majority of idols we see are Asian or Korean? (They are some companies that accept foreigners but let's be honest looks matter) South Korea has crazy beauty standards not to mention your weight has to be very low 48kg is ideal. You might think "well it's to be healthy" haha no. It's to fit the standard and be ready to sacrifice your hunger and health for the sake of "beauty". Not all companies but most push you to lose weight. Have you seen videos of idols talking about being on diets all the time? Their stories too where they had to lose weight fast for e.g Momo from Twice talked about how a staff member told her she had to lose weight within two weeks or she'll be dropped. The poor girl couldn't even drink water because she thought she would gain weight. That's just one of many idols who have suffered from being forced to lose weight. #2. Money. Be ready to have huge debt. If you trained for a year or less your debt may not be that bad but many train for a long time. Most of the money you make you'll have to use it to pay off your debt. Not to mention how many idols are broke, take this video for example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKOTgINpipp_mcU #3. Contracts. Boy oh boy. If you're dumb enough to simply sign it and not read it THROUGHLY be ready for a lawsuit. Not even joking. I have heard ex k-idols tell people to READ THEIR CONTRACTS. Why do you think there are so many lawsuits between Idols and their companies? This is especially for those who aren't even fluent in Korean and even if you are you NEED a lawyer with you to go over the contract. #4. Shady industry. Also known as the dark side of K-pop. There are a LOT of shady businesses within it. We all have heard by now about Produce Show & Idol School. They were rigged. There are also some instances where companies suggest you to become an idol if you want to be an actor or model as it makes it easier to go into those things. In my opinion that's unfair for those who actually want to be an idol. Hopefully you've heard of how some companies pay these people to hack music charts. Here's the video for that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/npK6l3SHjLx8l6M #5. Unfairness. Being completely honest most of the time it doesn't matter how hard you work. Companies decide who gets to debut and even then it's a challenge. Think of all of those trainees who have trained for YEARS but never get the chance to debut. There can also be favoritism, take chaeyeon from DIA. Mostly everyone knows them for one member same with Miss A Suzy. It's not the idols fault of course. #6. Bad companies. There's a ton of bad companies out there. I suggest watching this channel as they have lots of videos about bad companies: ChaennieLisoo. #7. Bullying. This is more about K-nets and international K-pop fans. Let me tell you now if you're not Korean or Asian you will face a ton of hate from fans. Not all but most (from the states). Take Lana for example, she's a solo idol is South Korea who faces a ton of hate simply because she's not Korean. 8. Sacrificed. You give up a lot to be a trainee and an idol. No more private life, no more seeing your family (unless they live close by) no more freedom (you have to act a certain way and may not ever get to be yourself anymore). There's more reasons but I'll stop here. Please note that I'm not trying to stop you from dreaming but I'm simply being real and showing you the grim reality of what K-pop is really like. It's a harsh industry. Definitely not for the weak. People call it signing your life away to a slave contract. It's a hard world. Please take in consideration of your well being before deciding to embark in a life that may not even care how much hours you put in.
