I think it sounds better with the baffle in. The exhaust gets louder as it breaks in. Now all u need are some block-off plates, a k and n filter, and a fuel controller. ;)

Mr & Mrs B's Brain Dump If you don't have a PCV, I would put the baffle back in until you do. The Akrapvic is designed as a plug in play unit with the baffle in, but with the increased air flow that is achieved without it, the bike needs an air/fuel ratio adjustment to avoid running too lean.

Hi Mr. B. I have the XSR900 and the Akra Carbon exhaust (SS) but have just sent the exhaust away to be ceramic coated black before install. B, how are you finding the noise levels with the DB killer out? The general consensus is that its too loud? I noticed a MT/FZ-09 forum member sliced the rear end of his DB killer off and found a happy medium between too quite and too loud? Have you considered this or just very happy with it screaming? Great Vid, thanks

Top job there, must make you grin even more than when it was standard now it sounds a total beasty! I've been so close to pressing the button on that same exhaust for mine on ebay but I can't decide between that pipe or the carbon racing line akrapovic (which isn't exactly road legal).

Well I managed to pull 2 exhaust studs ou while removing the old system. The centre cylinder both nuts seized on the stud so they both came out instead of loosening the nuts. I have a problem and i need help. I recently bought a 2018 MT09 with a full carbon akrapovic exhaust system on the bike. There are two previous owner before me. The second owner which is the previous owner i bought the bike from said that the bike was installed and tuned by the dealership that the original first owner bought it from. I don’t trust the knowledge of the second owner about the history of the bike. But the bike look brand new around 2000 miles on the odometer when i bought it. My problem is when i was riding the bike and sitting in a stop light and the bike is idling when i give it a little rev from stand still on neutral. The bike would stall from a stand still neutral geared position. The engine would just shut off. The engine would stall from neutral gear and idle about 2 times out of 10 tries (it dose not stall everytime in that situation but only 2/10). I do not know if the dealer even installed the full exhaust and tuned it. I think someone is lying. i think the original owner which is the first owner bought and installed the full akrapovic exhaust without having it tuned but i am just speculating. What should i do? Is it just a tuning problem or could it be something else or much more worse? And the bike already has 2000 miles when i bought it and i guess it was running in that state. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for this. I'm thinking of buying an MT 09 and looked at them yesterday. I checked the bar weights, front shocks, and throttle slack, as mentioned in your previous videos. All seemed okay but there was some variation in throttle slack - quite a bit on some I tried. Bike felt quite light and I like the upright seating position. I'd be interested in your advice on things to look out for and details of any problems you find. Unfortunately Akrapovic exhaust offer has finished now but I think I'd probably have one anyway if I do buy an MT 09. What's your views on heated grips (oxford), LED indicators, and a stone guard for the radiator? Also what tail tidy kit would you recommend? Cheers.
@BraindumpTv
@BraindumpTv 9 жыл бұрын
Pete F Hi Pete, great questions, throttle slack is set by the dealer workshop, I tested some with no slack also, if they go by the book then it will have slack. Yes bike is the lightest in it's class, no issues other than mentioned. Pity you missed the offer... as for grips, personally I don't like heated grips, it effects the 'feel' for me so if really cold I use heated glove inners. Indicator and rad guard personal taste, not for me.. I've fitted the R&G tail tidy to mine, looks great and comes with plate light. Once installed bend the plate holder to look flush with rear wheel. Mr & Mrs B's Brain Dump Thanks for the prompt and helpful reply, much appreciated. I was thinking about the BMW r nine t but I didn't like the seating position when I sat on it. I watched your videos on the MT 09 and the GSX S1000, which also looked a very nice bike. I've not had a look at the GSX S1000 yet, mainly because I don't have any main dealers where I live and end up having to drive out of town to look at bikes. Thanks again.
@BraindumpTv
@BraindumpTv 9 жыл бұрын
Pete F Always buy what YOU like, not what others like, always test ride before you buy. If I had the space and the cash, I would have both the MT09 and the GSX-S1000 - Both bikes have Character I like, not run of the mill. If it was a boxing match the MT09 would be bare fist and the GSX-S would be gloved. Both have a great right hook! =o)

Mr & Mrs B's Brain Dump Good advice Mr B. Unfortunately I've not ridden bikes for more than 40 years so I'm going through the process to get my full bike licence at the moment. Due to insurance issues dealers won't let me ride anything for probably 1-2 years and then only after I've passed everything needed for full motorbike licence. So I'm in a similar position to that which calm-biker found himself in, only a bit later down the road. Consequently, it is useful for me to seek advice from more experienced riders, like yourself, but obviously I'll eventually buy something I like and hope I like riding it. I quite like the ER-6n I'm training on at the moment but it is a bit heavy and top-heavy too, but at my age i prefer an upright riding stance like that. Anyway, thanks again for the helpful feedback because I really do find it useful. Cheers

Pete F Hi Pete, don't take this the wrong way, but if I were you I would start with the MT07 which is lighter, more powerful and NOT top heavy like the Kwak you are riding now. I think the MT09 may be a little too much power after such a long time away from Motorbikes. RSMF-*RI* Mr B

+Mr & Mrs B's Brain Dump Hi mate. I'm also getting a race blu MT 09 soon. Going to add some bling here and there, perhaps a tail tidy, rear seat cowl, fly screen, radiator guards, grips and shorty levers for starters. Still going to end up a lot cheaper than a stock Street Triple and the engine of the MT09 is a lot more lively. I've been thinking about an exhaust as well but not quite comfortable about paying 1300€ for the Akrapovic. Maybe Arrow or Ixil since they are about 700€ but I've heard many aftermarket exhausts tend to mess up the fueling of the bike. Some people claim they have noticed a negative impact on the performance after fitting an aftermarket exhaust. That being said it can be fixed by remapping the ECU but that is pretty expensive. What are your thoughts and experiences on the Akrapovic? Feel any loss of power or other little performance leaks? As far as I know you haven't done a remap.
