That silver thing you point to and refer to as a "horn" looks a lot like a vacuum actuator to open a flap in the air intake. It could probably be removed in a track application. It'll be connected to various sensors and vacuum lines that comprise their own circuit and no doubt could be isolated or plugged to facilitate removal of the system. Saved weight and better air flow into the pressurised airbox. ECU looks good for some Velcro adhesive tape to affix it onto frame. And yes, Titanium Akrapovic system, jizzy!

Some of the older cities in the US have those small garages as well. Like here in Seattle, Washington, all the garages in the city were originally horse stables or whatever, which were added onto in order to make them garages. But they're like the size of sheds. Pretty much the same as your tiny garage.

Once you put the smog block off plates on it will reduce, but not eliminate the flames. I've done that and the cat delete. I'm waiting on my laser etched R1 Akrapovic slip on coming from Australia next week. Can't get that one in the U.S. because of the Yoshimura deal.

Baron, go to a place that does PPF ( paint protection film and get it applied to your fairings, tank and any other exposed body work, including your lights :) itll save you a shit load of stone chips and all chips, cuts, scratches that happen on the PPF can be made good as new with a bit of head from a hair dryer if you dont have a heat gun :)

there are shops that put on clear bras you can use to protect the tank . mostly used on cars for door dings and rock chips . 3m makes a good product . an Audi dealer I worked for installed them. flawless look. in fact I couldn't tell there was anything on the car when the car got a full wrap in it. once you mess the brushed look up there's really no fixing it without a big cost. well big cost to me

I hate driving in the cities up here, so I dread to think what it's like in the London area. I get that some people need to live there for their job, but when I was at uni 5 days a week of living in in a city was more than enough for me. Good luck with the bike though. Does it ever feel a bit demoralising when you buy a bike from new and then start stripping bits off it, or do you get over the urge to keep your sexy new bike looking pristine after a while?

Thanks for the decals buddy can't wait to get them in! I'm going to secretly put one on my girlfriends helmet. I'm starting to take my little ninja 300 apart. That's the best thing about it it can teach me all because it has less bits and bobs on it! So what can I really mess up besides a plastic tab or such. Then I won't be afraid to "make it rain... Jizz?" on a sexy bike like the r1. Maybe a middleweight if they still make them. 9,700 miles in 7 months of riding. I just mounted my first helmet camera yay! I want to arrange meeting family I have in England for the first time. I doubt I could meet you as well but it would be fantastic.

I definitely think you should leave the ding dang doodley bit, change the other thingamy jig, and stick that other bit on the other bit, so the other bit looks good. That's my professional opinion anyway. I get nervous just changing a lightbulb, I think I would have an anxiety break down, if I attempted to dismantle something like an R1m. Fair play that's going to be some serious jizz machine.

Did you bypass the air circulation system after you installed the full exhaust? If not, it can worsen that sort of thing and also give you false AFR ratios if you're running a piggy back.

Just wondering if you can recommend the best exhaust system which removes the cat box but comes with a db killer so you can go on trackdays on a 2016 r1? Its mainly for donington where they have a 98-100db limit. Its not going to be a full on track bike but will be going on track days. Just dont want to have the hassle of removing parts and placing cat box for the track day. Just want to the easiness of screwing in a baffle and then removing afterwards.

Don't leave off the heat shield panel for the ECU. Ask yourself this question: What happens when the ECU chucks a bit of a wobbler and all of a sudden the front shocks go full soft and the brakes think you're leaning over at -elevetysix degrees? Give me that 150 gram panel back. When you take parts off, ask yourself what the part is designed for and what's the worst that can happen. ECU panel heat shield is there for a reason. Lots of plastic panels are there to hold on bits and bobs that you make just be taking off. Take 'em off and sell them on eBay. If you really want to track this bike, keep the bazzilion quids worth of R1M fairings wrapped somewhere in the house and sell them for a f**kton of money in a year after half the guys that bought one binned the bike in a ditch somewhere. Wiring harnesses weigh lots. Use a fine tipped Sharpie marker to label the connectors of stuff you've taken off and the date you disconnected them. Set a date three months, six months or whenever from now and make that your decision date as to whether it becomes a track only bike and then spend the weekend with a good set of snips and a bag of zip ties. You have an HP4 for road use for f**ks sake :P Carbon is sexy, carbon/kevlar is sexy, aluminium (I have to be careful how I spell that because I left Blighty 17 years ago and I'm being Seppo'd) is light and cheap. You can also smack aluminum bits back into shape in the paddock - try that with carbon. Spend all the money you saved on gym/core strength specific to the bike or a few good California Superbike school lessons or similar.

I like the Brit's garage, simple and requires tidiness to work in. But I can't get over the American idea of a 16½ square miles of a work center that you park your RV in while housings a small family of Mexicans in. Space is everything, but it's nice to see how small of a space us required and useable.
