A church in the complex can add to the story since in medieval times churches and monasteries sometimes doubled as “hospitals” to care for the wounded or ill. So it could be that the church was the original hospital and from there in the 18th, 19th century it progressed into an actual hospital complex :)

You could build an asylum farther out into the countryside, that would be a pretty unique build.

@@timin1258 I don't think I'm being pushy. Based on the video uploads, I think it is evident that Akraus favors the Aurelia series more. I prefer the Altengrad series because of the narrative and the idea of advancing a city through the decades. I would love to see more videos, so I asked for more. I understand he is busy, I wish there was more of a balance between Aurelia and Altengrad.

good job! the planners of the park would now probably design a path from about the chateau towards your new plaza so that people don't go around the hedge. Also, most Austro-Hungarian cities had some rectangular mesh urban planning in the broader centre, like Triesterviertel, Královo Pole, Vinohrady, Újlipótváros...

0:35 Oh yes, I was looking for building like that. I'm recreating Krakow and this building is simillar to Politechnika Krakowska main building (it was Austrian baracks previously). Always when I'm watching you, I download new things from workshop. Also because of you I have started to use procedural objects. Your level of detailing is amazing! Thank you and good luck in building Altengrad and Aurelia ;)

Have you thought about cemeteries or graveyards? Big cities have a lot of deaths, and graveyards often form the majority of green areas in urban areas because of their inability to be developed later. Hospitals would also have graveyards nearby...

Everything about this reminds me my city Brno. Amazing job, looks exactly like old Austrian-Hungarian city. And also the hill with church on top, is like citadel called Špilberk (in history also used as roughest prison in Austrian-Hungarian empire for worst criminals) and cathedral of st.Peter and Paul on hill called Petrov which are raised over the city Brno.

Hey Akruas, I have a question. Will Altengrad become like London which has both skyscrapers and traditional European Buildings or will it be just a city which only has European styled buildings?
@_kiewicz63404 жыл бұрын
I hope it won't end with scycrapers (maybe just one or two) I live next to Warsaw which is a city full of scycrapers and I really like that, but much more I enjoy cities that has that old climate at least in the city center

The really old center will not change at all probably, really tall buildings will most probably happen in some completely new quarter, but even then I won't use like super tall buildings.

@Akruas in the 30's some parts of the city centre of Turin where torn down in order to build magnificent boulevards and buildings with porticos. Remodelling doesn't necessarily mean skyscrapers and ugly building. Also, reading some comments about cemeteries, take a look at the monumental cemetery in Turin as well! Keep going!

The old hosipal complex is amazing, however I don't see reason for so large new hospital complex. For me, buildings built inside the old hospital complex make more sense, something taller rather than wider (maybe art deco style), but whatever. Amazing build anyway :)

Hey, Akruas! I was looking at the empty land alongside the park, and was thinking it would be a wonderful location for some larger, more lavish single family villas/mansions, similar to Millionaires’ Row in New York or other similar developments in the cities of those times (another good example I can think of is Buenos Aires). These were often built close to the city centre but not really in the very heart of the city, and next to large parks, promenades etc. I think it would be a cool change of city structure. What do you think? :)
@Akruas4 жыл бұрын
This is too close to the city centre for a project like that. I'll do something similar somewhere else.

I've been thinking: Was Altengrad part of the Eastern Bloc? If it was, there could be an annex to the town made of the obiquitous habitation blocs of the socialist countries.
