It’s the final week before the season’s first major championship as the PGA TOUR heads to TPC San Antonio for the Valero Texas Open. Rory McIlroy returns to make his third start of this event’s TPC San Antonio era; he finished runner-up in 2013 and missed the cut in 2022. He arrives here with 21 consecutive made cuts worldwide. Jordan Spieth plays in his home state this week. He finished runner-up here in 2015 and claimed victory in 2021. Missing the cut in his last two starts on TOUR, the three-time major winner is also looking to heat up before arriving in Augusta next week for the Masters Tournament. Canadian Corey Connors returns to defend his title this week. He looks to become the first back-to-back winner at the Valero Texas Open since Zach Johnson in 2008-09. He’s made five cuts out of five here and claimed victory in 2019 as well as last year’s success. Others to look out for are Collin Morikawa, Max Homa, Hideki Matsuyama and Matt Fitzpatrick.

My mum’s a doctor and I spoke to her about what would cause such an easy dislocation. Rather than it being due to how thin he is, it’s more so due to previous dislocations. Once it happens that first time, it’s really easy to risk doing it again, she estimated he’d probably had 4-5 dislocations to have it happen so easily with a fist pump.

My right shoulder dislocated when I was 8 and has then dislocated 5/6 times since then throughout my life and I’m 31 now, physiotherapist said exactly the same as your comment, the joint will always be weak now after the first dislocation.

Akshay needs to put on some muscle to prevent him from these injuries in the future 💪

Body types are different. Being lean and flexible is sometimes more valuable in golf for longevity than bulking up

Actually rather than due to lack of substantial muscle and mass in general (although as a golfer who used to be a chopstick before I started working out which I’m glad I began doing 4 years ago I’d say it really helped me and my strength) it’s more likely due to previous dislocations that have weakened the joint. Once you do it that first time it’s easier for it to happen again

Well played lad. That injury may need surgery in the future if he isn’t careful. Strengthen those shoulders muscle over time bud it would help. Knock em down in the masters Akshay

it was a planned strategy to allow him to walk off the course and gather his thoughts, he thought of shoulder tape to come up with the "no take shirt off" in front of cameras, he walked off, took a breath, came back

I would say the dislocation would have happened when he leaned on the club to pick his ball out of the hole rather than the fist pump?

i guess all you have to do to calm your nerves is say you need tape on your shoulder, tell people you can't take your shirt off, then leave the course for a nice little breather, gather the thoughts, and come back, "where can we go to take my shirt off so not everyone is looking at me" such a planned course of action here, no injury

I don't believe by any means Akshay injured his shoulder, this was a planned course of attack in case it came down to the wire. Akshay planned to have a shoulder injury, and planned for the tape, shirt off excuse, to then get off the course in private. it's a way to go to a private room, clearing his thoughts, taking a breath, and comes back with a slower heart rate and a chance to take a quick break. This needs to be BANNED. Any player now can come down 18 or a playoff, ask for someone to come out, say they don't want to change infront of the camera, and then leave the course.

In every pro, amateur sport they have timeouts for injuries and for any reason. Including giving the team a quick rest. Only in golf the one player is the - - - entire team. According to your crazy idea there should be no timeouts in the NFL, NBA, MLB or in any sport. Get over it. Akshay and every player can call for medical help at anytime. 𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙢
