When you think about Bob's epic story and rise, his impact on the world, and then to see a glimpse into how dark the afterwards and business side is tragic. I wonder if this true story will ever come to light. People don't realize how important Al Anderson, Carlton Barrett, Tyrone Downie, Wiya Lindo, Aston Barrett, Chinna Smith, all were to the sound, songs and production of the music we know today. That band was Bob's army and vehicle. He was the leader, singer and songwriter like no other, but it was a unit that made it so strong.

What an interview. Al seems a lovely guy. Real shocker about Family Man, how could he not go and visit Bob when he needed him the most? Unforgivable. I have read books and they back up what Al says about some of Bob's supposedly closest friends just wanting money out of him. They showed themselves, their true selves. Must have broken Bob's heart. So sad that it all fell apart.

Al Anderson sounds very intelligent. 1. I'd like to hear Familyman's side of the story. 2. The Wailers is pretty much Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer. Without those three titular heads in the group, is that really The Wailers? 3. Thank you for talking about Earl Wya Lindo, a genius who's been underrated and literally erased from Wailers history. 👊🏿👊🏿👏🏿👏🏿 Good to hear Al's side of the story.

That's a crying shame to Robert's legacy. Bob would never do any work without the Wailers or take away any royalty from them. Al I bet Robert is somewhere screaming his ass off about this. No worries we know the Wailers will forever be on top cause that was Robert's band. What happened regardless of whatever is so shameful.

Surely there's many sides to this story, but what it's sure, and i know it from people that was close to Bob, is that when he was on his death bed, instead of prayers and positive energy he was surrounded by vultures fighting over his spoils. So sad when you are a guiding light for millions, but you are unsuccessful in guiding your own family and inner circle out of the darkness of greed and selfishness.

There are THREE sides to a story-whatever Al Anderson says about Family man character and his brother is NOT the FULL story. Prior to meeting Bob, Peter and Bunny in the 1960s Family Man and his brother were part of Lee Scotch Perry band called the 'Upsetters'. When Peter and Bunny left the wailers the band continued to be the main backing band for Bob with some others artists such as Al Anderson coming in along the way. It's a very rare thing for individuals to work together for so long if they don't get along well AND it doesn't mean that if people have different personalities that they will not respect each other. Some don't people have the flexibility to deal with all personalities. And if Bob didn't like Family Man why didn't he find another bass player for the group. It seem to me Al Anderson that your real issue with family man isn't about his character but it has to do with money. I don't know the full story as to why Chris Blackwell came to claim ownership of Bob's publishing rights to his music so I won't comment on that. Why are you Al Anderson talking about Family Man affairs with women, wasn't Bob Marley also a womanizer ? And you Al Anderson also know that despite Bob's singing about positive things that he also had serious flaws in his own character. It's Not Family Man fault that the group was robbed of their royalty, it's all of you in the band who should have let Bob know that a contract be put in writing to ensure that future earnings from Bob's music be distributed to the band members-you all left your welfare in the hands of Bob and the "pirate" Chris Blackwell. It is unfortunate that Al Anderson states that Family man wasn't forward looking as a musician which is rubbish when Family man has proven himself to be one of the BEST bass guitarist in the world- you can listen to his bass line alone and dance to Bob's music. It's a good thing that Family man didn't come to germany to see Bob because according to Junior Marvin (See You Tube Vidoe-Junior Marvin Lecture/Red Bull Academy) people who came to see Bob gave him solid food to eat (against the Doctor's order) which worsen his condition because he was only able to digest liquid food due to damage to his intestines caused by the radiation treatment he had received prior to going to Germany. It is not true that family man has not shown himself to be a leader because since Bob's death unlike other members of the group (including you Al Anderson) Family Man has been touring with what's left of the wailers band and promoting Bob Marley's music.

If Bob Marley had looked out for the Wailers things would have been better for everyone.. All the lawsuits wouldn't have been possible. I know Tyrone and I knew Al in a little way. In the 80's I was living in StJohn'sWood me and Tyrone was reminiscing about the old days and Tyrone was in a bad way. I asked him how did things get to this? Tyrone told me, Bob didn't look out for them, Bob wouldn't sort out any paper work. To hear Al talking is painful because he blaming everyone except the one who is to blame Mr Bob Marley, I knew Bob well enough and I liked him at times he was like a big brother to me but when Tyrone told me what was going on, I saw for the first time, what I always saw as the outsider, looking in. Bob was always too good to be true, plus the way he was brought up made him a bitter man. I laugh now when I tell my younger brother, all of Bob Marley's childhood stories used to end with him getting a beating. By his own words black people treated him badly because he had white man blood in his vains. I was surprised when in a interview his son Zizzy ( David)said his father never told him about what he went through as a child. For some reason, I was some Bob felt he could talk to and he could the only reason I done this comments it is so sad to hear Al Anderson talking so much rubbish he must have gone off his head. If Al and the rest of the Wailers have no Money it is because of Bob Marley, he didn't give a flying toss about them. I'll tell you this Bob Marley had a very cold side to his nature, he even said as much, he is saying so on the Marley C.D Documentary that came out a few years ago. I will also say this in his defence, not many people could have suffered what he went through and still be so Loving and kind could tell you a lot more but I don't want to be giving too much away. One day I might write a book about my time around Bob Marley and the Wailers from 1975- 1980 when Marley passed, Reggae died a slow death on the international market it long and painful. When you have seen the best and known the best, it's no use hanging around hoping for glory days to return and thats what Al is doing he looks and sounds sad he should move on. TYRONE PASSED RECENTLY BUT HE LOOKED LIKE HIS OLD SELF, LIKE HE HAD MOVED ON STOPPED LIVING IN THE PAST. SO MUCH THINGS TO SAY.

I have family members that knew Bob intimately. And I could tell you things that were told to me too. Bob did have a selfish side to him and he resented many of those so-called brethren’s who he privately called leeches. And you are correct, Bob should have structured his contracts where they band members would receive a lifetime of royalties. The music was created by the band, after all. I couldn’t imagine members of The Police,The Rolling Stones, U2, The Beatles being treated so unfairly that weren’t being justly compensated. But because Bob grew up poor, alone and had a mistrust of people he grew up with a poverty mindset. What would have taken to sign contracts where The surviving members and their family would collect from the millions of albums sold

Al Anderson your account of Family Man refusing to visit Bob in Germany doesn't add up because Aston Barrett gave a different account. So who is telling the truth.

Watch the "Natty Dred" video! It caught my eye when Bob walks on stage, He, Bob was so happy but when he saw Family Man, Bob's whole demeanor changed. I always wondered why but now I know. WOW

Sad to hear those statements of the Architect of Reggae, Bob was the message, the power the feeling. Aston was the brain. Maybe the best bass player in JA and a top name in music history. Al... just was a guitarrist, even Junior Marvin was more notorius than Al beeing in the The Wailers less time than him. Funny how call he his band The Original Wailers not been an original Wailer.

Al Anderson I think u are the bitter one. I know Family Man and he's nothing like what u are portraying here. Come on bro we know Family man was in for need of money at the time when he agreed to take the settlement. He said he didn't have the funds to adequately contest the case and everyone including "Whitewell" were pulling strings in different directions. Family man was the genius of the group. He arranged most of the songs even when they were "The Hippie Boys", Then they became the house band for Lee Perry, where they were "The Upsetters".... They, (Family Man & Carly) were the backbone of the Wailers band. Listen to "Run for Cover", "Soul Rebel", "Sun is Shining", "Duppy Conquerer", "Trench Town Rock", "Please Don't You Rock My Boat", (original version), " Small Axe", and many many more," Judge Not", " It Hurts To Be Alone", "Simmer Down", "Dancing Shoes" "Concrete Jungle", "African Herbsman", "and Fussing & Fighting", " Riding High", " Kaya", " Brain Washing", "Mellow Mood", "Cry to Me", "Man to Man", "Stir it Up", (which most people know as, ("Who The Cap Fit"), "Rastaman Chant" and many more. Now THOSE SONGS ARE ORIGINAL Wailers music ALL written from the early 60's to the early 70's, ALL recorded AND RELEASED BEFORE that's BEFORE Al Anderson joined the band. And he's calling himself an original "Wailer"? C'mon man give me a break. The Wailers can't be defined by and should never be defined by the account of one disgruntled person. The Wailers is bigger than the sum of its parts. That's all I have to say for now. I've been listening to the Wailers from they made "Simmer Down" & "It Hurts To Be Alone", "Bend Down Low", "Long Time", "One Love", "Lonesome Feeling", "Love & Affection", " Put it On" between 1964 & 1971 and the first time I saw the Wailers "live" was in January, 1969 in Kingston, Jamaica, and the second time I saw them "live" was in October, 28 1979 at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem NY. Betty Wright opened for them. I've been a Wailers fan for 60 years and counting. I didn't use Wickepedia to compile my fingers I used my brain and my memory.
