I started in 2009. Scalping. in 2015, my PTD career kicked off with proper capital. In 2019 I was over -$80k in losses over that 10 years. but, once I got it down, in line and found my footing, I was able to earn that back inside of 8 months. basically it took 10 years to lose $80k as a student, and 6 months to earn $80k as protrader.

Hi, Karronn, I have made lots of observations about market behavior over the years, and this is one of many. I believe that most computer algorithms use it in some fashion. It is related to the Trader's Equation. If there is a breakout, the probability is high enough to make an equidistant move to a target more likely than a move of the same distance to a stop. I wish I had more time to talk about it here.

My first 15 years of trading I lost a lot, the following 15 years I broken even, now I am retired and finally I start making profit. Trading is not about how to buy and sell, it is 90% about understanding yourself .... what kind of personality you are. You need a supernatural level of self-discipline, determination, and humility to be consistently profitable. If you understand that you don't have this type of personality, try something else.
@whatsup48073 жыл бұрын
GGGGGG.....the easiest time to earn money before Black Monday without computer joining in the trade and you missed that prime time. Unbelievable a WASTE of time, hard earning money and LIFE. Now you retire, and risk your fortune into something self- recognition. GGGGGGGG....SHOULD HAVE A PROFESSIONAL COMPANY TO MANAGE YOUR MONEY like JPM at least you'll get 50% More in 30 yrs. 30 yrs= 1/2 my deceased mum's life. Unbelievable and ditto to the previous comment.

Well with all the respect, if it really took you 30 yrs I don't think you had a natural supernatural level of self-discipline part as a personality either. You probably were opposite and overcame your natural personality after repeating so many failure of self-discipline and money losses you finally learned to go against your instinct. This part can be encouraging that someone without the suitable personality type can also be a profitable after 30 yrs. I guess it's a warning. Thanks for sharing.

Been in it for 5 years. Paper traded for just a bit as you have no emotion it it when you do that and that really effects your trading a lot when you have skin in the game. I lost money every year ,but in small amounts. It has helped me recently to really trade small size. I have tried a number of things and finally think I may be on to something where I may be more consistent. Remember you may have 2 winning trades in a row then go 10 straight losses even when you stick to your rules.

Are you doing chart practice everyday? Every day I mark up the SPY chart after the market closes like Al does. Being doing it for 2 months and it's help me see patterns and anticipate trades. I'll only get better over time. I think a part of the problem is people don't truly believe trading is a probabilities game. They see every new bar and know if it supports their trade or doesn't. And they think they should act. Don't. Learn to accept that it's a coin flip game because using Al's 60-40 rule it basically is. Sure, traders who have been profitable for decades can micromanage each bar. But newbies can't. They simply haven't been around enough to see if a new bar is within expectations or not. Probably why I think channels are hard to trade. You know it's a trend, but the market whipsaws so much and always looks like it's reversing. You need experience to determine the subtle difference between when the channel is doing normal things and when it finally breaks and begins to transition into a trading range or reversal. Even I think I don't truly believe it. My logical mind understands the idea, but my emotional mind still wants to click the close position button everytime I see a small bear bar or doji in a bull channel. And it's what I'm trying to figure out. How do I change emotional mind?
