There used to be a car like this at the Imperial Palace Hotel Car museum in Las Vegas. It was putatively Al Capones armored limosine. It was , if I remember, a 1930 V-16 Cadillac. It had many of the features of this car plus an oil line from the crank case which would send a jet of hot oil on to the exhaust manifold to create a smoke screen. Standard equipment included a box of roofing nails to be dumped through a coffee can sized hole in the floor. There were gun ports in the thick armored door glass as I recall. The museum was broken up when the hotel change hands....where it went I can only guess. There were MANY historic cars that were dispersed in this corporate raid

Okay I see two possibilities... The first being that this car, which belonged to the most well-known criminal in history, and somehow managed to make it into this guy’s garage, was coincidentally stripped down by this man to reveal an armor package of thin sheet metal held to the roof by door hinges and modern Phillips screws... Teaching us two things... 1. That Al Capone must’ve been very cheap when constructing his 1927 “Limousine” (Which is interesting considering that his vehicle was actually a Town Car), and 2. The Smithsonian, National Geographic Society, every American History Museum, and every other qualified source in the world, we’re all totally cool with this car landing in this guy’s hands, and they were super cool with him tearing it apart to “restore” it... Or! The other possibility: This guy’s full of shit...

At one time exhibited in carnivals across America and in England as a a Capone car, the Cadillac eventually returned to the United States in the mid-1960s and passed through a number of museums - the Niagara Falls Antique Auto Museum, the Cars of the Greats museum, and the Smoky Mountain Car Museum - before the late John O’Quinn added it to his collection in 2006. Offered at an RM auction at St. John’s with a $300,000 to $400,000 pre-auction estimate, the Cadillac sold for $341,000, including the 10 percent buyer’s premium. NADA’s stated value for a 1928 Cadillac Model 341 four-door town sedan is $41,200. This Video is NOT IT !!!!

Considering how notorious Al Capone was, I'd love to see how the mob boss' limo would fare against modern day armored vehicles. This wouldn't stand a chance. But for the time, these modifications on this 1929 vintage car are pretty wild.

Interesting and it may have been one of Capones car's? Some of that "armour plating" looks like new steel sheet. Even restored a sheet of steel nearly 100years old is going to have pitting and in those days I doubt it would be so flat and smooth. Just looks very fresh and too well cut. Also, by the time you folded down the window plates Capone would have been dead. So bullet proof glass and door panels would make more sense than all steel protection. But I may be wrong but someone else claims to have a 1928 Cadillac that belonged to Capone and it has 1inch bullet proof glass, drop down rear window and steel plate armour.

Alex Magana he said it wasn't, he said it hasn't be restored yet that's why it's rusty, but I highly doubt that it was his car and it was put together pretty poorly. I'm It was sent back in the day that the president even borrowed Al's Capone's bulletproof car or one of his bulletproof cars not sure how many he supposedly had. But I really don't think that was his car. Come on look at the workmanship that was done by some crackhead backyard mechanic.

@craigmonteforte14783 жыл бұрын
Capone was certainly prepared for many things I wonder really how efficient all that bulletproofing really was as it didn’t look like it was very thick steel perhaps making the car more Bullet resistant than actually proof

Al's was 28' Caddy with bullet proof glass with a drop down back window. That metal plating wouldn't be much protection for long! That's most likely a Caddy from Chicago PD. They had a few of them.

Marrone! Maybe he meant "Al Gavone" may own it, not Capone. Or maybe he meant modified by "Al Tizzone." What kind of mope destroys an authentic original car to create a copy of something Capone never had? Authentic mulignana craftsmanship, too. What the fuck is that thin sheet metal supposed to stop? Rubber band guns and Daisy Red Riders? The mods are childish. Why do I need a compartment to store a pistol that is small enough to be kept on my person? A rifle rack might make sense. Kudos to a Greek Walter Mitty. Somebody should kick him right in his fucking braciole.

That is no armor plate. That is perhaps 12 gauge steel plate, insufficient to stop a bullet. And the workmanship looks shabby. I'm sure Al Capone could afford better, much better.
@Imissyoulou10 жыл бұрын
That metal look rather thin to be bullet proof. It appears that the old Thompson machine gun would be able to do a lot of damage. However, I still love the car and Big Al.

n 1933, the real 1928 Capone Cadillac was sold and shipped to England and didn't return until 1958. It went to the new owner who ran an amusement park overseas. After U.S. pressure to stop glorifying gangsters, the owner soon tired of the car and sold the Cadillac to dance hall owner Tony Stuart. Your car doesn't look anything like era news photos of the real car. source www.myalcaponemuseum.com/id196.htm
