Got to see Al with RTF back in 74 & he was using that same Les Paul & then one more time in 76 & he was still making that guitar wail. I have a 1972 LP & for all my guitars that is the one i will never part with as it was the first real guitar i learned on. They are heavy but it's with wrecking your back over. I'm no Al D. but if you would like to hear mine i would be happy to share. I got mine from my teacher in 1973 for the whopping sum of 500 bucks. Not going to find a deal such as that these days. Hey if you like what you hear feel free to leave me a comment. Al is amazing & only around 18-19 years old the first time i saw him with Chick & RTF . kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHnNYWece7mlkKs Gibson's Rock !!

Seems that he has taken the old DiMarzio LesPaul out of the case - exactly the sound of "Elegant Gypsy" .. He is a hero.
@paullevine18132 ай бұрын
Yes, he has & should you get a chance to watch his show from the City Winery in Atlanta he says he hasn't touched it since his days with Chick but even though they are heavy as mine is as well he loves the hell out of playing it again & on that show he's got a Tele & a PRS behind him and for close to two hours he never touches either of them. Saw him &RTF back in the mid 70s & that Les Paul still sounds as great as it did then but then again look who's playing it. The only thing i do see is the large switch backing plate on the bottom is gone but the rest looks as it has been in the case for a long while & it's damn nice to see & hear it again. That was not a stock switch option but something he had installed but i don't know the whole story behind that only that it's a coil splitter.

@PetervanderPalm4 ай бұрын

Plexiglass and purple lighting obsession.
@PetervanderPalm4 ай бұрын
@@geevee7823 You're quite right. a few years ago it was terribly blue everywhere and now purple is apparently in fashion. The plexiglass is necessary for the drum and percussion kit to better adjust the sound. Why there are screens around the piano is also a mystery to me. But you liked the performance and the quality of my video, right?
@geevee78234 ай бұрын
@@PetervanderPalm The mic bleeding measures are complete overkill, it never used to be necessary. Caging musicians on stage is idiotic. The NSJF used to be something to look forward to. Every single thumbnail of live music videos I see are purple coloured, it doesn't make sense. Hope you had a great time there and thanks for sharing the recording.
@fusionfan68834 ай бұрын
I really don’t care, it’s the music that counts, and I have been to so many gigs where the sound is like mush that I appreciate any artist that makes an effort to present the clearest sound possible.
