I,m reading the book and it is one of the most interersting books I've read in a while. I grew up in Memphis and I try to gather any and all information about that mysterios city of Memphis,10 and all that came out of it. Musicians, Blues and Jazz artist, polticians activist,producers, cultural icons and everybody else who where reared there or associated with that city in someway. I have discovered that Memphis has produced as many or maybe even more great and unusual pure Jazz musicains as New Orleans is known for. I know some of the chararcters in that book. Ollie Nightengale; whom I played guitar for a little bit in the mid seventies and Larry Lee, Al's guitar player.I knew off through a best friend in Memphis. He was also Al's Band leader in the seventies. Larry Lee is also the second guitar player with the scarf covering his whole face opposite Jimi Hendrix at orignal Woodstock Festivel ! I never met Al but he is one interesting soul. From what I can gather typical Memphis persona. Kind of pimp, preacher and slight gangster with his Enterprise band and a very cheap indivdual. Kind of dillusional and arrogant and a extremely jealous soul but still remaining warm and charming. Kind of real but a Memphis shyster underneath. A possible Bisexual being as the book is alluding to IMHO. Fighting those hidden demons he has kept hidden from the public so for long.The book alludes to that if you read between the lines! A true modern Rock Star with a Twisted Rock Star life to the bone. Even though he is a Soul, Gospel and Pop artist. Whew Al Green; Who Knew !!!!

Memphisboy7 I just got the book and haven’t started reading it yet but it’s funny you mentioned the bisexuality because I’ve always suspected it just from his mannerisms when he dances and speaks.
