Nobody can do it like Mr Al Green. Loved him since the early 70s. Enjoy

OH MY GOD!!!! This is the first time I've seen one of his live performances, and it's SO GOOD! Always LOVED Al Green! All us young white girls were completely enamored of him. He has the most soulful voice! And his ad libs were thrilling. He was just perfect.

That's why back then it was called Soul music. The singer's put all their soul into a song. I miss the early 70's whenI was in Jr. High.

I grew up during this era, early 60s through early 70s, and the music is timeless. I'm 66 now, worked for a number of years as a touring musician in different types of bands; rock and roll, blues, country western, soul, top 40, and I can tell you, the music of that era was the best. No matter the genre; rock and roll, pop, soul, country, r&b, it was the best. The Golden Age. And my friend, you are by far the best with your reactions on KZbin. You always do a great job. Thanks for all you do.

Al Green is a legend. He was a legend in my late 60s Canadian High School and I'm quite certain he's still with us in 2020. Last time I heard him he'd lost nothing. We can always look up him no matter our heights.

I lived about 10 houses down from Al Green , he had a front gate adorned with musical notes just like Elvis , both in Memphis. Elvis on Union ave( now Elvis Presley Boulevard) I saw Elvis, and Al on Mendenhall rd.but I never saw Al . He saw God after having hot grits thrown on his bare body by a mistreated wife and became Reverend Al Green, Hallelujah!

I've seen Al live 3 times. The last time was in 2016. He's pretty old now but he can still hit those notes. At the last show, he fell on the ground and pretended to have a heart attack during "how can you mend a broken heart". The audience was concerned, but he got a pretty big kick out of it. lol. He also gives roses to every lady in the front row at every show. He's still got it.

Woohoo, listen to him, damn he can sing. Singers now do sound so air-brushed, there's too much artificial engineering getting pumped into songs. To me it sounds like new songs are shiny and wrapped in plastic, you can hear everything but it feels like there's some kind of barrier in the way that keeps you from being able to get pulled in and really connect with the song.

This was Al's hobby...his first love is preaching and gospel music. I'm like 99% sure he was(is) an ordained minister. His biggest hit was; "Let's Stay Together" which was made bigger still by Tina Turner's cover in the '80s. You're not alone with your feeling of being born in the wrong time period. You were born with an "Old Soul" is what my grandmother might have said.

Don't give up on the music of your generation. Because there are so many different musical genres today , that it takes a lot more effort to find the good stuff ( Chris Stapleton, Yebba ) but it's worth the trouble. Keep on keepin; on !

If you will JB, please review some of the songs by The Coasters. If you are willing to go back to the late 1950s and early 1960s this group was so entertaining and so fun. You will see real talent. Their best songs were, 1. Who wrote the book of love, 2. Yakety Yak, 3. Charlie Brown, and 4. Splish Splash.

You know, some young, (mostly) white kids are rediscovering bluegrass. They're playing banjos and fiddles, and singing the old Appalachian songs. It's really great. Maybe young black kids will have a similar rediscovery of some of the old blues catalog?
