@themajicman7454 жыл бұрын
The music started going down in the 80's.
@jonathanakerele80064 жыл бұрын
@@themajicman745 I was born in the 1980s and heard lots of love songs from that era on 94.7 The Wave as I was growing up and many of them were romantic songs with a melodious relaxing beat. As it turns out rap music has been around since the 1970s but it really got popular in the 1980s and I think we could say that big-time promotion of the artists started around 1986 or so with NWA and other groups such as Digital Underground whose artists later split, went solo, and then got big on their own. Lil' Wayne also did this after breaking way from this group "The Hot Boyz" in New Orleans. I feel the main problem with mainstream hip hop music, in particular, is that its claim to fame was always its hyperfocus on everything bad in society (guns, rape, arrests, shootings, beatings, smoking) which later transitioned into relishing some of those traits as long as whoever as involved found a way to get their cut of attention, fame, and money from it to survive (stay afloat financially). There weren't enough songs out there among rappers that got repeated airplay on the radio that celebrated positive qualities like Will Smith's remix of the love song "Two of Us" which talked about his parental bond with his firstborn son Williard Smith III a.k.a. Trey. If the radio stations would promote those more positive songs about compassion, platonic love, justice, education, and work then I don't think rap music as a genre would have such a horrible reputation of indirectly plumping up the prison population by encouraging bad behavior among today's youth while the youth just go along with it because enough of their friends think it sounds cool. =(
@jonathanakerele80064 жыл бұрын
I was born in the 1980s but I understand what you mean because so many cool artists from that era blew up and were selling vinyl records and audio cassettes of their music left and right like Luther Vandross, Michael Jackson, and Stevie Wonder. It would have been so amazing to be alive back then as a teenager and go to their live concerts if I could have afforded it. I'm sure being at their live music events would have been a sight to behold with everyone in the crowd screaming and cheering before they even take the stage. LOL! =)

This song came out in 1984, which was a pivotal year for me. One year later while working at Merry Go Round, the Keyboard player for Al Jarreau walked into our store. I sold him an outfit that he would wear later on at the concert. As appreciation, he gave me two back stage passes along with tickets. After the concert I hung out with the keyboard player at the bar; yes he said to give me anything I wanted (cough). I then went back to the hotel where I knew the band was staying. Al Jarreau was in the lobby, quite intoxicated. I sat down to join the conversation, which is something I would not have had the courage to do one year prior. Al, looked at me, smiled and said the following, "There is a man, there is a source, there is a God there is a force that can change Shi_ into gold". I sat there nodding and he asked me, "do you know what that means?" I looked at him and said something like, "sure, there is nothing you cannot accomplish with the help of God." He began to cry and said, "you are the first (blankity blank) person who has ever figured out what the hell I am saying. Well, when he got tired and called it a night, I asked for his autograph. He gave it. This all happened in Columbia Maryland at the Merriweather Post Pavilion which is an, "outdoor concert venue located within Symphony Woods, a 40-acre lot of preserved land in the heart of the planned community of Columbia, Maryland. In 2010, Merriweather was named the second-best amphitheater in the United States by Billboard magazine." DWK

one of Al Jarreau's best. Great lyrics and phrasing, and keyboards. Great drums and beat. Great guitar ending, driving it home.

There, there was a time I knew That no matter, come what may, love Would prevail And then inside the dreams I knew Came the question lovers fear Can true love fail Then I would miss the childhood wish And haven't I sung to you Of the knight in armor bright Faithful and true to you Darling, after all I will be the one to hold you in my arms After all I will be the one to hold you I will be the one to hold you in my arms In my arms I know in my heart and mind That no matter, come what may, love will survive And love, the author of space and time Keeps the galaxies and each sparrow alive And the love that heals the wound After the war is through Is the knight in armor bright Faithful and true to you Darling, after all I will be the one to hold you in my arms After all I will be the one to hold you I will be the one to hold you in my arms In my arms

"After all, I will be the one to hold you in my arms." That was Al Jarreau. He could paint a love story with his voice that you could feel. His live shows, videos, amazing. A world treasure, this man. We lost one of the absolute greatest voices of all time. I ADORED his music, lyrics, everything. It got me through so much over the years. Thank you God for giving us Al Jarreau. My prayers to his family, friends & fans. Rest in peace, Mr. Jarreau.

Tears rolling. I am gonna miss you AL. My childhood is dying off day by day. God Speed to you sir and thank You. Sing to the Lord from now to eternity. You had Edwards Ave in Oakland, Ca jamming to "morning" many years ago. KBLX was the station and we residents were the PEOPLE. Never Forgotten. R.I.P.

After All is said & done, Love, the Author of Space & time will heal ALL our wounds after this war is through, & hold us in His arms for all Eternity... I can’t wait to be with you Jesus!! 🤗❤️🙏

ACTUAL LYRIC: "LOVE, the Author of Space and Time, keeps the Galaxies and each Sparrow alligned." VERY SIGNIFICANT OBSERVATION. Equally significant sentiment. You've MIXED it with: "And the LOVE that heals the wounds after the War is through, is the Knight in Armor bright, faithful and true to You." Either way, we get the message: FORGIVENESS of a Higher Order. 👐🦋
@anonymousposter44813 жыл бұрын
@@GAMakin I see. Ok, wasn’t going for word by word. But got the “significant” word “alive” vs “ aligned” from lyrics off of SEVERAL lyrics websites. I imagine they would know, and Al is gone home so we can’t ask him...🤷♀️ and if you’ll check, Love the author of space & time those are all lyrics from the song. Have a wonderful day 👋
