Al Jefferson's post moves were so unorthodox. But he was one of my favorite low post players of the late 2000s to watch. I think his funky style had a lot to do with the fact that he didn't really shoot a traditional right-handed jump hook, where he made sure his body was perpendicular to his opponent. A lotta times, it was like a push shot where he was completely facing the opponent, other times, it was quickly shot where he would turn in midair to catch the opponent off guard (there's actually a video montage of al jefferson no-turn hooks on youtube). And he had great shot fakes and half spins if he ever picked up his dribble.

the game demands a lot more versatility on the perimeter for big men, being able to shuffle along the perimeter on PnR, being switchable, clearing the paint up without being a liability. The days of pure paint protectors are definitely dying down.

i really really miss the old days. I’m 23 years young and I’m not a big fan of the new shoot only systems it’s wack af seeing 7 footers do nothing but pull from deep. It’s cool. But no thank you. Before every position mattered the varying sizes and abilities correlated w/ each other and it was so interesting to watch 5 guys play a COMPLETELY different way from iso size up floater to running hook.

I see where youre coming from, but big guys are very kind of discriminated. I am 6'3 and 300 lbs rn at 16 years old. Thing is I am in great shape, best of my life. My point is I have always been way bigger tahn everyone i play with and been stuck in the post. I hate being there, and I lost a year of development because of it. I just wanted a chance to show that I could actually dribble and shoot even though Im big. Now my coaches see what i can do and i feel free to do what i can

This era post shaqs prime was odd and unfilled for post big men and you can see why the nba ditched the post offense era.check this out, bynum, yao, ogreg oden around the same time were severly injury prone but couldnt stay healthy. They had so much potential to dominate the post but probably wohldnt have reached those heights the 90s and shaq reached as scorer with 26pts plus for consecutive seasons especially with the rule changes. Dwight quickly fell off eoth a back injury. Al jefferson and brook lopez, zach randolph were elite post scorers but brook had injury woes and they were very unathletic and couldnt draw fouls or play defense at this point in time. Bogut got hurt and fell off, biedrens too, kwame, olowakandi, millicic were huge busts. Chandler, marcus camby were injury prone for a while, eddy curry was great in the post but had heart issues and fell off too. Many centers dropped off and got hurt. It was rarer to have the physically dominate centers be great at the post or they were skilled but were not athletic enough to completely take over. Oden and bynum and a healthy focus eddy curry were the only ones j seen that could have been hakeem, jabbar, shaq and wilt mosses malone level of peak but we may never know. Yao hit a peak of 25 pts but i dont think he was athletic enough to be at that level. Tbey all had strong weakeness and strngths. Later on demarcus cousins proved to be injury prone and embid has been too. Shaqs era lost out on sokid centers like bryant reeves, gheorge mursean alonzo mourning who were around his age group and fell off for one reason or another
