It does not get better than this - Al Jolson and Eddie Cantor together - two of my favorite entertainers.

I thought Jolson was going to pass out after “Susie”, he really gave it his all! This was a classic!

@@MarcLeavey I’m a proud member from as far back as 1998, I even remember the April Showers midi tune when id open the page :) I just ordered three DVDs from the film department. I am excited to receive them, the Jolson Society is the greatest organization I know of! With fantastic material and excellent Jolson Journals twice a year, it is a priceless source for all Jolson fans!

Great video, any recordings of Al Jolson with Eddie Cantor and Nick Parkyakarkus (Harry Einstein)?
@MarcLeavey3 жыл бұрын
There are many recordings with Eddie Cantor from the radio shows that they did together, and Harry Einstein's Parkyakarkus was a regular on Jolson's Colgate radio show, of which there are a handful of broadcasts existing. You can check out what is available on the IAJS website, www.jolson.org - under the Audio Section on the Society page. I'm looking for Jolie and Eddie singing "Sonny Boy (What's My Name?). Any idea if it exists anywhere?
@MarcLeavey3 жыл бұрын
Gary, I'm not sure that you heard Jolson do it with Eddie Cantor. We have recordings of Jolson's appearances on Cantor shows, and Cantor with Jolson, and it is on none of them. Jolson did the routine with Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy on the first episode of the Kraft Music Hall, and again with the Andrews Sisters when they guested on the Music Hall. Jerry Lewis also did the routine with his father, and again with his son, switching roles. I hope that helps. Do check out the website at www.jolson.org, where there is a comprehensive list of all known Jolson recordings, and join the International Al Jolson Society if you're not already a member!
