@@Xmundos Not in context of land rights of Palestinians. If you want to make a documentary comparing the rights of various religions please go right ahead. I'm sure there are many available already. This documentary is not about religion. This issue is not about religion. You can try to make it about religion if you desire, but it would be a smoke screen for the truth.

My life stories with Israeli apartheid: Since the Nakba in 1948, my Palestinian family has been displaced by Israeli forces from Jericho, their birth place, to three different refugee camps in the West Bank until they settled in one camp near Bethlehem, where they started their fourth new life after all of their assets they had in Jericho like houses, farms , shops, and lands were confiscated by the Israelis and simply given away to Israeli settlers who immigrated to Palestine from Eastern Europe. After that my dad worked almost all of his life for Israeli building companies in the occupied West Bank to secure basic needs for his children. My mum and despite her mental illness caused by the displacement trauma, had somehow and miraculously managed to keep us all alive , and together. However the saddest aspect of this brutal Israeli occupation was not the loss of our land in Jericho itself, but the overall poor living conditions we experienced under the apartheid military control where the Israeli soldiers can shoot and kill innocent Palestinians without being prosecuted. Of course, lack of basic human rights has been the main highlight of the Israeli occupiers who did not give neither my mum nor dad any health care, social care, life or health insurance , compensation for displacement , care home or even basic retirement salary as they later became frail and ill. My parents were lucky to bring up a family in such inhumane circumstances and for me they were my biggest heroes and without whom the story of my life would not be possible to tell. The story of my family is just one of millions of similar stories in Palestine and I’m sure there are more horrific stories to be told, but there are also many that can never be heard as their heroes are no longer with us.

What I am learning here is that Britain - quite openly after the 6 month general strike - performed an identical role for the Jewish immigrants as the IDF currently performs for the illegal settler community in the West Bank. Even allowing for the blood and horrors of the Atlantic slave-trade, the handling Palestinian Mandate must stand as the darkest, most shameful episode in 300 years of British imperial history.

The land bbelonged to others, even then; the Jews were foreigners in that land; who is this God to give this land of another to the Jews? This God is not just or righteous. This God is playing favorites, giving his ppl things that do not belong to them! That the British chose to do the same is to say only that they displayed the same self righteous arrogance. What do the religious texts have to do with justice? They preach it when it suits, destroying others whose reality contradicts their edicts! 400 years of human connection to that area under the Ottomans totally invalidated, torn up & shredded on the basis of an ancient text. Perhaps you'd like the world reorganised on this basis? Would historians direct that reorganisation, or ppl with guns, like the Jews, who, having used the British to legitimise their takeover, then chased them out by force as well?

@@jazzzame1 I know that, hence my point that using an ancient text to justify Zionism is not acceptable; the Zionists cleverly exploited the powers that were to get the partition up at the UN, plus a heavy dose of terrorism, to grab something that belonged to others, period. So all the fancy post hoc justifications are just that, as Israel's actions clearly show, but their awareness of the hypocrisy of their moral position won't allow them to say that. Had the European Jews taken the local Jews approach, the land could have become a Jewish home, just not a Zionist state; the Zionist state is the problem, always was; most educated Jews, & all Arabs will tell you that.

The way forward other people in the world have come up with is called "truth and reconciliation". Looking at South Africa is a good learning point. A great many Palestinians want peace, not retribution, and many Israelis too, they recognise that a policy of life-for-a-life just means endless death. Like blacks in SA and the USA, it will be a struggle, parity wouldn't come quickly, racism doesn't die quickly... but it's doable, once those holding power find it in their best interests.
@Mapoposo512
@Mapoposo512 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. In South Africa; we embraced peace and the end of apartheid for the good of our nation. If the US and the Israelis want it; peace and co-existence in Palestine is possible. Arab league countries must pull finger and be more forceful and pressure the US to pressure Tel Aviv to the negotiating table and insist on peace, co-existence and recognition of Palestine as a sovereign state. Withhold oil exports to the US if they have to! Oil embargoes caused Japan world war 2. Such a powerful weapon. Why not use it against the most oil thirsty nation in the world? The only country capable of pressuring Israel into practical concessions; the US?

i don't hate jews. i just find that whole idea of zionism to be ethnocentric and racist. most jews aren't even zionists. how can the israeli government justify kicking people out of their homes that they legally can prove that they own? they have been living there for over 300 years. most israeli jews are ashkenazis from the caucasus, caspian sea region and they converted to judaism around the 10th century a.d. it's plenty of time to develop a distinct culture but they are still russians.

The problem is most of those people never owned that land. A Arab sells the land to a jew and the new owner wants to move in so the renter/tenant has to leave. In the west we call that normal. But if it's the middle East and buyer is Jewish than the Arabs call it a crime and say the land is stolen.

Indeed most Jews living in Israel today are not ashkenazi, they are Arab Jews and North African Jews. Many Jews lived in Jerusalem many years before the 1930s. Furthermore, Jews living throughout the Middle East, in Iraq, Syria, Egypt have fled as refugees from their native countries and many were killed. Many Jews even died in Jerusalem, Hebron, Haifa in pogroms before the establishment of Israel. Of course we should be concerned about the plight and well being of Palestinians, but a full context is also necessary.

Nothing to add. They should have known better after the massive harm done to them. Instead of really being better, they turned against a people who was not part of the atrocities done against them in Europe. And now they complain if the misery, despair and hopelesness they brought onto the Palestinians and are still bringing upon them, causes some of them to radicalize. I hope to live long enough to see my country and other western countries acknowledge the awful role they played in this. Sadly, even if I live to very old age (My grandmothers are 89 and 90 now.), it might not be enough to witness the end of this injustice and the beginning of genuine attempts to make up for it without causing new harm.

As a German I've often heard this story, starting at school, but this version is quite unfamiliar. It does not start with the Ottoman Empire letting Palestine fall into neglect. There is no mention of malaria and low development. It is not even mentioned that Jewish immigration also led to significant Arab immigration from neighboring states as the land was getting developed and opportunities were created. I think the truth must be somewhere in between but little of it can be gleaned from anything produced by Al Jazeera.
