Great video. I think it's also worth mentioning how Meriam starts off the show as an aspiring feminist. And yet all her revenge plots relied on weaponizing misogyny against the bullies.

same with layan! she says a lot of feministy things throughout the show (e.g. not antagonizing roqayya for her picture leaks/saving noaf at the field trip) however, bullies marian by calling her flat chested etc the entire season. this show did such a great job portraying pick and choose feminism, while really fleshed out the characters that seemed like actual people

8181k - I see your point and you're not wrong about the misogyny being weaponized. Even though the bullies hate their lives at home because of their unloving control freak parents, especially their fathers, it's still no excuse for them to have beaten Mariam up and ruin her life. So Mariam in my opinion had the absolute right to get back at her bullies in any way she wanted. None of this wouldn't have happened for them to get their comeuppance if they hadn't damaged Mariam and destroyed her reputation. Even that principal is guilty for protecting the bullies. She always knew that Mariam was innocent, and since she did nothing to give Mariam justice, she too got her comeuppance by getting fired.

What annoys me is the show did not feature any Palestinian, Syrian, Chaldean, or Sudanese characters considering half of Jordan’s population is refugees. As well as the vast majority of that population of refugeees being palestinians who suffered from nationalists who would abuse them as well as Sudanese refugees who face anti-blackness in Jordan. I really wish in the next season they would feature the non-Jordanians in Jordan.

This show represents a very tiny minority in jordan, and is definitely copying other American series.
@cuteONE223 жыл бұрын
Why do you think that? Jordan has a huge population of girls who don't wear hijab, bully each other, try to do things behind their parents backs..... Etc. As all other Arab countries. Believe me I work in a university and I see way more than what was depicted on screen. I am an Arab and I studied in a public school and university in the middle east, and I work now at a private American branch campus university in the middle east, so I have seen it all from both extremes and everything in between. I see girls who dress modestly, girls who dress way too revealing, girls with tattoos, girls who hang out with boys no problem.... Etc. I even caught a couple of teens kissing in the college library were I work 😂 believe me, the show barely scratched the surface on the lives of Arab teens.

@@cuteONE22 your logic is flawed, i did mentioned thats its a tiny majority, i never said these kind of things doesn't happen in jordan at all....and not everything that happens in real life must be depicted in movies and tv shows if you think other wise then, then you didn't scratch the serface of networks such as Netflix and thier agendas

I feel bad for females in the Muslim religion. Let me tell you how reality works. One, religion is a way to keep people in line. Religion and government goes hand in hand. Religion also uses fear tactics to control followers of whatever God they believe in. Secondly, NOBODY owns anyone, NOBODY can control anyone, and NOBODY can dominate anyone unless you let them. Men don't own women and vice versa. You have to get away from this belief system if you want clarity and freedom. You won't be judged or sent to a heaven or hell or whatever based on following man made rules or weather you have your body totally covered or not.
@Shahd2572 жыл бұрын
Perhaps because you are not a Muslim, you think that the Islamic religion offends women, but in the religion of Islam this is the opposite. Men and we may be raped * and I think you have heard that we are the least people subjected to rape because most of us are veiled and cover our bodies. Please do not listen to people’s lies that we are subjected to injustice.
@DXPunx742 жыл бұрын
@@Shahd257 I have seen documentaries about women who were assaulted by husbands and other male family members for crazy reasons. One of the reasons is for getting westernized. I feel horrible for them. I have studied pretty much every religion I could within a 25 year period and all I can say is religion is man made and these supernatural gods don't exist. Religion was started to keep people in line and these things were based off of myths and stories people told to scare kids into being good.

The men in the show shouldn't be an example of what muslims are like. Nowhere in Islam it says that men have authority over women, sadly many muslims confuse what Allah says into what they want to believe and use Islam as an excuse to rule women but that isn't true. Majority of muslims nowadays don"t know what their religion means and interpret it however they like but you shouldn't judge a whole religion based on what people that "follow" that religion do.
@Princebisc11 ай бұрын
Why are you only targeting Muslims then? Why not Christians and Jews aswell? Have you watched unorthodox? You should to get a better insight on how it's never the fault of religion itself, it's the fault of interpretation. Your logic is extremely biased and flawed, you obviously gained this insight by watching ex-Muslim videos. I'd recommend that you talk to actual scholars about your views and gain an understanding from them or watch people converting/reverting to Islam to get a better pov of why people who follow this religion, follow it.
