Thank you Andy! And yes the idea behind all 3 of my albums on this channel was to take individual tracks from across the years that, when brought together, seemed to 'belong' as part of an album. I would love it if these were released officially; but I'm equally thrilled that so many people are getting to hear this stuff for free on KZbin.

Ooh David this guy is worthy for me to share his music , I dont know if he's alive but I got fused with the Glory of God 26 years ago and can now alter the weather , sort of , I mean I like the music but the LIGHT (4-5 yards wide with a multicolour interior mingled in each other with 100's of rays beaming out) , it had been on the Dutch island of Bonaire for over 250 years until 1995 , some say that it must of had come on a slaveship called Salomon II in 1726 with slaves from Ethiopia , IT had been seen on the shores of Colombia and Venezuela for over 200 years , IT was hiding in the cone of a mountain called Blandaris , if Al is alive he should write a song about the journey of the Shechinah Glory , I had written an article for the local newspaper back in 92 that they wouldnt published it was called "The Glory of God" , 3 years later I get hit square in the chest by the Light .........not finished with my mission ......and Al is not finished with his last song.........

The first time I saw Al Stewart was at Leeds University when the concert was interrupted by a bomb scare. We had a break and then he came back and finished the gig. It was a few months before he released Past, Present & Future and he was still trying out some of the songs on an audience. It was just him and a guitar, not the full backing of the recorded songs.

As well as being a great song writer and singer Al is also a tremendous guitar player. Very few people can play 'interesting' guitar whilst performing as well but Al manages this with aplomb. A troubadour par excellence.

Nice to hear these versions. Thanks for posting this as well as your other "compilations" of Al Stewart music. I like to imagine that this is what some of these songs sounded like when he first wrote them & was practicing them, prior to them being "produced" on an album. For those who like Al Stewart's music (like I do --- a fan since the 70's) and want something "close" to a solo acoustic album, I would recommend the album (on CD, & possibly other media versions now too) called UNCORKED, which Al did along with lead guitarist Dave Nachmanoff. It was recorded live at a concert & released in 2009... and contains almost all "deep cuts" from albums, & all acoustic. Definitely worthwhile to listen to for Al Stewart fans new and old!!!

Enjoying this Thanks!. Back in the 70's I would guess, another collector played me tape of early Al from bbc broadcasts. One guitar and vocals. I distinctly recall Peel introducing Old Compton Street Blues and You Should Have Listened to Al. It sounded very good so it must have been copied from source. It was on loan to him and I never saw it again. Ring any bells?

Thank you for this album! The timeline of Al Stewart's performances with his many timely commentaries serves as an esoteric series of historical references. eg, this YOTC includes mention of the criminal Ken Lay: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenneth_Lay so Al sang this song sometime between 2001 and 2006?
