Ala Babi Waef Amarein (On My Doorstep are Two Moons)
Danced to the live recording of artist Melhem Barakat, Yasmina Ramzy was was commissioned to create this choreography for Jawahiir Dance Company in Minneapolos, MN. This particular performance is by Arabesque Canada. Cassandra Shore was gracious to allow Yasmina to put the choreography on her own company Arabesque as well. The song evokes powerful memories for Yasmina of her days performing in Damascus and Allepo in 1980s and 90s where the musicians often played this song before she went on stage. This piece is infused with Yasmina's love of Syria and the rich artistic culture she enjoyed there.
