I hope that that bias doesn't infiltrate the entire season. I think OU is a lovely team (they're not my team and I'm being generous) but Ragan getting a 9.9 on floor (?!?? for example) was appalling to me in the context of baseline scoring in the meet -- plus umm not being blind. Yeah, they were still going to beat Alabama, who by the way I hope get on their game and improve soon because they're lovely as well, but omfg. RE: example of Ragan on Floor: Those landings and legs were so sloppy, a 9.9 feels like a slap in the face to viewers, competitors, teammates and the sport alike. I almost want to throw up on those floor judges.

@@recentral48 Yeah it's only two tens, but two tens at the start of the season, in the same meet, when other teams had routines that were just as good and didn't get those high scores (For example: Michigan's opening vault this season). Oklahoma is noticeably over-scored every season basically.

@@mariam__x when the blm movement happened several gymnasts came out with their stories of racism in the ncca. Tia kiaku said she experienced racism at Alabama and from Dana. Luisia basically called her a liar even though she wasn't on the team when Tia was.

I have to say, the 2 tens are absolutely ridiculous especially considering how low Alabama was scored (which could be justified if consistent throughout both teams). I mean neither were 10s let’s be real. Kat was clearly slightly under rotated and had to lift her toes up and Allie literally took a shuffle. I’d say 9.95 max for both. And I found Luisa Blanco to be underscored on bars and floor. Overall I thought that the gap of scoring between the two teams was clearly biased and just inconsistent. Oklahoma should have won, but not this way. Aside from my judging bias rant, I’ll talk a bit ab the routines from Alabama just because I care to talk about their routines more Bars: Gaskins was pretty good and I think the score is reasonable and a nice new release combo Waligora was dynamic as always especially with the dismount and I thought that the score was too low tbh (9.85 would be better) Adams had an awesome routine and I thought it was also a low, maybe 9.875 is more reasonable Cam had a good routine, but tbh I thought Adams had a better routine Blanco was great and the only noticeable deduction was the half pirouette but I felt it was underscored and should have been at least 9.9 Doggette was great too and I hope she can get better at dialing in the stick Vault: scores made for sense here I was rlly confused why lily hudson, Corrine, and Kelly didn’t compete as they all have 1.5s With Adams, waligora, doggette, and Blanco doing a 1.5 they could have all 10.0 start values and extra backups Gaskins didn’t have a good vault it was plain not a great landing Adams also doesn’t have a great yurchenko full so hopefully she upgrades too Jordan had an ok vault too but tbh it felt like a Blanco replacement for today Waligora seemed a bit off bc she’s usually on it for the landing Doggette was gorg in the air and since when did she have a 1.5?! It was super pretty and had too much power Same with Lexi she just over did it and opened too late Floor: Gaskins was ok she just seemed a bit off going oob twice Sad for cam bc her routine was great up until the last pass Adams also seemed very off with the mistake on the leap pass and her tumbling was good Waligora is a real trooper for getting the lineup back together and she did a nice job on her first floor routine in a while Blanco was underscored in my opinion she did an amazing routine and 9.875 felt like a slap in the face especially compared to OUs floor scores Lexi had a bit of a stumble but still great routine Beam: Ella did a fantastic job starting off and I thought it was better than OUs lead off yet it scored lower Nice swing Doggette back on beam she seems a bit timid though Gaskins had a solid set but just didn’t get the score I expected Adams was clearly off today I mean she wobbled on walking after nailing her series as well as after nailing her wolf turns Waligora did great! First and only 9.9+ score for Alabama at all today and she did fantastic today Blanco was great just a little iffy on the landing but still a nice job

@@ariamtaglieriramos5604 Because they weren't entirely open on their landing. Which is textbook perfection when they achieve it. What OK does that no one else does is form an arc in the shape they make off the vault. Many girls stick a vault landing by piking and dropping down into the landing instead of achieving the timing of actually finishing the shape that the vault makes in the air. (Again, Kat was not under rotated in the least, her form was picture perfect, as the shape of her vault is what is desired and almost never achieved.)

@@masonlovesroblox I actually think the NCAA should create a rule that if it is shown a landing wasn't stuck on a 10 scored routine, they should be able to retract it. Not on any other part of the routine (because that would open up too many cans of worms) but if a landing isn't stuck that is not a 10. And Stern's wasn't.

Damn Oklahoma is killing' it! I was never into watching college gymnastics until this year I'm thoroughly enjoying it the teams have phenomenal sportsmanship and camaraderie Which is nice to see gymnast actually show emotion and they're not so stoic they look like they're having fun and they're proud of what they're doing on the floor

While Oklahoma would have won this meet anyway, this scoring nonsense is getting out of hand... 2 perfect 10 vaults the first meet of the season?! One of which was quite obviously not a stuck landing. Then the out of bounds on floor without a deduction!! I understand that they would have won regardless but this is out of hand. Good job to both teams though, it just makes me frustrated as a fan.

my intention here is not to start an argument but I would strongly disagree with the statement about the vault landings..they were both stuck cold. not saying I completely agree with the fact that both were 10’s but both had few if any deductions so those I don’t believe were underscored. The out of bounds would be nearly impossible to see from the judges angle. I didn’t even see it until the slow motion replay showing a different angle so that’s just kind of one of those missed deductions that come with a subjective sport

it's the first meet of the season, I believe. it takes time to settle into competition, you know? once everyone has a few more meets under their belts, everyone's choreo will look more natural and dynamic.

@@Katherine77129 well, I definitely don't think you're wrong about how COVID is having an impact on this, just like how it impacts everything else. but I also realize I didn't communicate my thought well enough lol that happens more than I'd like. by "early in the season," I mean that there's always a process of getting used to competition again because it's a new season. it's been a while since most people have competed, and no matter how seasoned a veteran someone is, there's just an adjustment period as you get back in the rhythm of things. even being in front of an audience again, versus doing routines in practice, will affect things. so there's just a lot of things to get used to again, on top of the stress and impacts of COVID, but I'm sure that everyone will feel more confident once they're in the swing of things again :D it's going to be a good season (edited because one of my sentences was very confusing and imprecise so I needed to fix it)

Anywho, I watch occasionally a KZbin channel with Whitney Bjerken and she committed to Alabama for gymnastics (soon to graduate hs) She's talented and has beautiful lines, but I've never seen her do half of these skills. I'm just a bit confused.
