I spent 15 years in the Alabama prison system. The DOC has no accountability to anyone. It is a powder keg every day. Just coming out of that system alive is an accomplishment

Our prison system is based on such an archaic, Victorian-ish way of thinking... It's so shameful

This documentary really shines a light on the shocking realities of the Alabama prison system! It's crazy to see these conditions through the eyes of the inmates

As a resident of Alabama, thank you for making this film. People need to know how bad Alabama’s prisons are and shine a light on this atrocity. I’m a former military policeman that worked with several Alabama correctional officers in my National Guard unit, I’ve witnessed some of these individuals directly by working with them on military deployments. They were some of the most unprofessional officers I had ever seen. I spent 4 years active duty in the Marine Corps and have a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in psychology. Governor Kay Ivey makes laws up in her sleep and she is a prime example of why we should have term limits. She just fired the state Veterans Affairs Commissioner Kent Davis this past year. He was highly respected and from what I understand he has since filed a lawsuit. She had set up a committee to determine his guilt or innocence. They found him innocent and she still fired him under how she described as an “executive authority”. She is as crooked as the people she oversees. It’s quite the state scandal at the moment along with the state slave labor they are currently perpetuating.

They are so correct on all this stuff. My son was up for parole, told he could go to work release 1 month prior to the hearing. Yet at the parole hearing he was denied by all 3 members of the board because they felt he was a danger to society, what safe enough to work as a slave for you but not to be paroled by you. He has a 4 year sentence for possession for his own use. He is not a violent criminal in anyway. The system sucks and they don't care about these people!!

If someone out there could help with this It would certainly be appreciated. A while back about 2 yrs ago, it came out that almost all of our covid relief money that was given to the state, the governor said she wanted to use it to build new prisons. There was push back, it really was the first time that you could go to a store or out to eat and hear negative remarks about our governor. It's not that we do not need better conditions in our prisons. We all know the conditions there and how horrible it is. The story went away, but what we wonder in our house is why was it that the money had been stored up and not given to us for rent. In Alabama, we had to continue to pay our rent despite covid. And where is the money now? Zip, not a word to us in our news about it.

Alabama government isn't our problem we have a beautiful spirited governor with Kate Ivy. The prison rebuild was because for years inmates living conditions where literally unlivable, so Alabama officials decided to build some bigger housing units to fix the multitude of problems on the inside. If you know anything about construction, then, these things take time. However, by proceedings in the project. I am reaching out to you for the prison ministry program as a member, and I pray that I was about to clear up with this answer to your question. I pray this finds you in good health and in peaceful spirit. Remember to fast and pray daily Stay safe and blessed 🙌 Jesus is Lord
