What makes the Genesis version superior in my eyes is the fact that it has humor programed into the game. the SNES version was pretty straight forward with Abu only providing the comic relief where as the Genesis version has more "Meta" jokes like Mickey Mouse ears hanging on a clothes line and an image of Goofy on one of the pillars in the dessert desert level. Kinda like an actual Disney movie.

Animations are better in the Genesis version, but music composition is far better on the SNES. Sound quality... So much better on the SNES. Colors are much better on the SNES. Level design Is much more better on the SNES, the graphics are full of details. The lava stage, Is far better on the SNES. The flying carpet level looks awesome in the SNES. The final boss and final fight are so, but so much better on the SNES. And the most important thing, Is that the SNES version have a much more developed gameplay. SEGA version plays like an average, mediocre platformer.

Sega's version was superior in pretty much every area. The new Final Cut version that came out with the Aladdin/Lion King collection last year proves it even more. (The Final Cut rom actually works on the Mega Drive/Genesis). If VCDECIDE would have shown more than the first level in this video there would have been no room for argument at all. Aesthetically, the MD version clearly benefits from the having the Disney animators on board. The SNES is a more traditional platformer and isn't a bad game by any means but it seems a bit staid compared to the MD version. Aladdin on the MD is basically a prototype of Earthworm Jim. Or you could think of Earthworm Jim, from a gameplay perspective, as the sequel to MD Aladdin.

Nope. Magical Quest kills Castle of Illusion. Even World of Illusion is better than Castle of Illusion. I can't understand why people like it other than that it was an early release with phenomenal graphics. The stage designs suck, and Mickey's plodding movement and jumping is awkward. Most of the bosses suck, except for the epic and challenging final battle.

I'm sorry but the art design in the SNES version is too charming. That's because Capcom tend to have a huge attention to detail, which is awesome. The colors are more lively, and it actually encourages you to explore since you have a great amount of collectibles to find. The Genesis version seems like a straigh forward generic platforming game. Althought it does have better animations and the character design looks amazing, it's like it was taken straight out of the movie! Gotta go with the SNES version on this one!

Tbh, I never really liked Capcom's SNES soundfont that much. It usually sounds generic and only really fits on around half of their games, like Mega Man 7 or Street Fighter 2. Oh, and unpopular opinion, I much prefer the soundfont and music on some others of Capcom's works, Mega Man X2 and X3. X3 especially for the soundfont because it was a breath of fresh air with its use of grunge.

Sega Genesis had more focus on the variety on attacks and enemies while Super Nintendo had more focus on acrobatics and Platforming. Super Nintendo's graphics looked more like a Painting while Genesis looked more Cartoony (Like the Movie itself).

There is a big focus on platforming in the Genesis version too. Watch a video of the Cave of Wonders stage. It's pretty awkwardly done too, with lots of platforms that are hard to latch onto, like in that awful section with the hippo tails in Lion King, only it's balloons in Aladdin.

The Genesis version looks phenomenal (owing to the direct involvement of actual Disney animators), but it doesn't play so great. Meandering level design, poor hit boxes (trying to grab the balloons in the Cave of Wonders is downright rage inducing), and an outright lame final battle with Jaffar. It's obvious that Capcom was a much better developer than Virgin. Guess which one of them is still around today.

Genesis may have the animators on their side, but when I think of Aladdin, I think of the athletic side to him for platforming as opposed to the combat focus of the Scimitar (he only had it for the Jafar Snake fight in the film). Plus, CAPCOM made the soundtrack slap so hard. It's good. SNES is also more accessible to beginners. SNES Aladdin all the way.

Forgotten, generic movie-based platformer on SNES vs. all time classic on genesis. Whoever developed the SNES version should be ashamed. 2022 EDIT: After replaying both titles, I was completely wrong! The Genesis version has some nice animations, but the SNES version is by far the better game. Capcom brings crisp, tight controls with actual bosses, clever stage designs, interesting gameplay, etc. The Sega version makes a great initial impression, but doesn't hold up under close inspection. I hang my head in shame for my previous take.

O proprio Shinji Mikami designer da versão de snes disse que a versão de mega é melhor e queria ter trabalhado nela. Aladdin de mega teve animações feitas pela propria Disney, tem a espadinha, personagem maior, e varios detalhes que o deixam mais legal e o fazem melhor. Mas ambos jogos são ótimos e diferente um do outro. Importante que existem essas duas versões pra gente desfrutar dessas belezinhas.

I liked SNES version. Yeah, Genesis has a sword and better animation. But Genesis changed the story with Aladdin by having him steal half the scarab from Gazeem. The guy that DIED at the beginning of the movie. SNES added to the story without changing it. Plus SNES had Jafar as a giant snake at the end and a special ending for collecting almost all the red rubies. Genesis didn't have a special ending or a snake Jafar.

Os dois são bons ! Porém SNES exibe melhores cores no cenário e hardware de som do Nintendo são bem superiores o que torna o jogo no Nintendo mais agradável; Saber que o Nintendo é superior não diminui a grandeza do mega drive.

I am really disappointed that CAPCOM who made Street Fighter II made this Aladdin on SNES so cheap-looking. It's not bad at all, animations are great, background-layers are great, but for a CAPCOM-game it is not enough somehow. SEGA delivers a lot more inside-jokes like Mickey-Mouse-ears in the desert, Sir Hiss in the desert, Sebastian Crab in the dungeon, a MegaDrive1 in Djini's wonderlamp and a STOP-sign in the desert, even the toilets are separated in men, women and djinis which makes no sense, but is funny as hell. While SNES seems to repeat "Prince of Persia" all the time plus a gliding-mode and Abu, who is really really sweet animated, but nothing special in particular. Give Abu to SEGA and there is no reason to play the SNES-game.

I always heard the Genesis version looked better. But I didn’t realize it was this much better. The games look like they’re from 2 separate console generations. It’s unfair because the SNES version looks great, but it looks so ugly when next to the Genesis version

SNES is superior, they made a better use of color instead of having everything brow and orange. Sound on SNES is better. The only advantage os Genesis is having a bigger character on screen and better animation

here are 5 reasons the SNES Version is superior 1 Aladdin never uses a sword. he is not a violent person 2 Parallax scrolling background and foregrounds 3 More movie accurate colors and level designs 4 Music that matches the movie. (one step ahead of the breadline instead of sega's prince Ali) 5 tons of climbing swinging, vaulting animations

Snes version appears to have better use of colours, IMO, but the Mega Drive version beats it in every other way, sprites/animation/gameplay/music etc

I forgot how different the versions were. I grabbed it for my snes thinking it was more like the seta than i remembered... I was sorely mistaken. Sega was sooooo much better. Now i just gotta find a sega copy.

@@ethanordorica2808 I was being serious though. How where kids parents spending the money for the to own 2 current home consoles? Its mind boggling to me. Growing up when we where younger I only knew one guy who had multiple consoles from 5-7th gen (he even had older gens) but that was only because he had like over 10 siblings so most of them weren't even his. Everyone else pretty much had only one from the current or last gen. Most being PS1 and 2. xD

Both games are good. The Genesis version has better animation, hands down. However, the backgrounds in the Super NES version are far superior (just look at 2:30), and make extensive use the color palette. Totally different gameplay, though.

A do Mega Drive é mais fluída , os bonecos são maiores, as animações são mais rápidas e o Aladdin ainda tem uma espada. A do Snes tem os bonecos pequenos, animações lentas, gameplay de ficar pulando na cabeca de inimigos, coloridinho..parece joguinho para bebês. Não tem nem comparação.

+al ubaldini this is not true... the SNES was pretty popular here too (as well as the Mega Drive)... you're probably confusing it with the original NES, that was not licensed here (but we had a lot of NES clones to compensate it, like the Dynavision II or the Phantom System)
