I really like that part after A Whole New World when they're watching people dance in the city and she says the people are what make it her favorite view. It contrasts nicely how the palace was having a party Jasmine just wasn't into and sort of reminds me of Titanic when Jack and Rose sneak from the fancy dinner party to dance with the commoners. It really establishes the disconnect between Jasmine and the people she wants to help/the kingdom.

Just once I want to see a movie where the lead actress is dating a poor guy but longs to be with her TRUE love....a distinguished oil tycoon with whom she will live happily ever after. The river of love only seems to flow from rich to poor in Hollywood plots. It's defiant of real life. I also struggled to believe that part of the world Has no religion. Secular Arabia? Maybe in 3090. Aside from that, it was a Great movie. A perfect movie to bring the kids to

1992: Jasmine: wants freedom, wishes she weren’t a princess and yearns for the freedom everyone else has Aladdin: wants to live life like in the palace and not be seen as a street rat Genie: wants freedom Jafar: wants power 2019: Jasmine: believes she’d be the best Sultan, doesn’t want to be relegated to marriage Aladdin: wants to be rich, wants to marry the princess Genie: wants to be human Jafar: wants to be number one While in the original, Aladdin thinks the grass is greener on the other side and that life would automatically be better in the palace (Jasmine has that but seeks the opposite), it’s barely touched on in the new one. Instead, he just wants to go out with her after their chance encounter (before even realising she’s the princess) and is helped towards that by the story - all of his motivation is to ‘get the girl’. In his own story, they actually took away from him and gave Jasmine so much focus and such a different characterisation and arc- It’s really not even Aladdin anymore

@GoofyGE3K5 жыл бұрын
Little power? I thought he seemed even stronger. No games or gags like unraveling Carpet or kitten Raja. He either teleported you away or levitated you and froze you. The only thing dramatic he does like that is large Iago, and I suspect that's because he couldn't teleport the lamp as it too is magic. Jafar didn't mess around
@briannalee19985 жыл бұрын
Emmanuel Aguilar I know. They should've shown him using more sorcery at the beginning and got a tougher looking and more intimidating guy to play him. He was completely miscast.
@joshsauer47255 жыл бұрын
GoofyGE3K I can agree that he didn’t play around, but I am still upset that he didn’t transform into a giant cobra. That was such an iconic scene, and would have been SO much better than his Iago trick. Plus, there was no risk with Iago. He didn’t even catch the lamp. Jafar had to summon a storm to bring it to him. So it was extremely pointless. With the original, jasmine was being buried alive in an hourglass, which gave Aladdin a reason to fight Jafar. The movie was amazing, but that anticlimactic ending made me feel very unsatisfied.

I loved this movie so much, Aladdin is so well cast. I was so surprised as I am over remakes and Disney movies in general, but this one was amazing. I loved the colour, dancing, music and that Jam joke. I have never laughed so hard at a joke before in the cinemas. Mena Massoud chemistry was so amazing and his how the story arc of how he could be Jaffar was great. Such a great movie, can't wait to watch it again, which I don't normally do.
