Hey theatre friends! Today, we're talking all things BROADWAY on Disney+ !! Earlier this month, we saw smash-hit musical #Hamilton hit the streaming platform. Turns out, #Disney is reportedly gasp interested in keep theatre lovers happy? Disney's #Aladdin the Musical was recorded on the West End prior to it closing last year, and word on the street is that it's headed to Disney+! So let's discuss this news, why the Aladdin release date was reportedly pushed back, and what musical might get the pro-shot treatment next!
UPDATE: Did some ~detective work~ found out that Ainsley Melham (Broadway’s current Aladdin) will play the title role in the pro-shot!

S o n ! A shortened version of Wicked was a show at the Universal Studios theme park in Japan for a few years so part of me feels like Universal would have the rights to Wicked, not Disney. Also, apparently a Wicked movie is getting made so a pro-shot is unlikely.

I am down for it coming to Disney+. QOTD: I was lucky enough to see the Broadway production, but I’m excited. I’d prefer if they brung Frozen (the sadly now closed Broadway musical) to Disney+ because I also saw that and am SO SAD that it closed (and that was so much better than Aladdin) whooops sorry if I offended you. Side note: it would be amazing if Tangled came in frozen’s place. It is one of the newer musicals similar to frozen and it wouldn’t be that risky because it already exists on the Disney cruise line. That or Moana, both would be a good choice even though traveling does not translate well to stage.

Hey! I was at the recording and it was such a brilliant cast. I have a picture of the cast list that i can tweet to you if you’ve not seen it. The fact we got Jonathan Freeman as Jafar made it for me. Trevor is on his very top form. Seen him 4 times and by far his best. Had the pleasure of working with the show whilst it was running and I’m very happy that some of the cast get the opportunity for the international stage! PS Hercules or Hunchback would be most appreciated

The fact that the real Broadway pro shots (not the Disney world show) are coming to Disney+ makes me so hyped. Hamilton is on loop all the time on my tv and my family will be happy to have a different musical in the loop so they can "take a break". Lol

When I saw Aladdin was the subject of this video, I KNEW I had to watch this, and I knew you'd bring this up sooner or later. I'm so glad that ur finally talking about this show cos as an Aladdin fanboy, it's great that ur giving it some love Aladdin is like my favourite musical of ALL TIME and I just adore it so freaking much 😍😍😍 It has amazing costumes, the sets r incredible, that magic carpet is pure magic, the show gives new life to ideas that were meant for the film but were sadly cut (like Proud Of Your Boy for instance), and The Genie is super hilarious!! Whether it's a fourth wall break, showing his "pre shoe shopping" during Arabian Nights or saying he's from Wakanda or Cleveland or some other place, there is never a dull moment when The Genie is onstage. I've seen Aladdin twice, both here in Australia and on Broadway, and both times, I had an amazing time. Honestly Aladdin is "Exactly What I Wished For". That's not just a slogan, so I recommend watching this Disney masterpiece for yourself As for who I wanna see in here, I'm down for seeing Trevor rock the house as Genie cos he is amazing!! He can really hold last note at the end of Friend Like Me which I love. Plus Trevor was also with the original Broadway company before he took on the role in London And since u said Ainsley Melham is here, u bet I'm gonna watch this. When I saw Aladdin for the first time in person, he was the Aladdin I had and he was incredible. Jasmine I think somebody said Izzy from the national tour was doing that so yeah I'm hyped. As for Jafar I am seriously hoping for Jonathan Freeman. Nobody plays Jafar better than him imo cos he originally played the role in the movie. I also hope Don Daryl- Rivera from the Broadway production returns as Iago, he is amazing!! As for everyone else, I'm game to see what this proshot does with the rest of the cast. I cannot wait to see Aladdin on Disney plus. Hope y'all r as equally psyched

I’m super excited to finally see Jonathan freeman as jafar since he is the original voice in the movie and original jafar on broadway. I am from the uk and I went to holiday to NYC in 2017 whilst there I saw Aladdin with Telly as Aladdin and Courtney Reed as Jasmine but I was a little disappointed to find out Johnathan wasn’t in the show that night so I’m excited to finally see him play the part

While I am always here for more proshots of musicals to make theatre more accessible I am a little worried about putting the future of things like this in the hands of Disney, just because they are already such a monolith that if they do end up doing it regularly, theatre then becomes Disney like it did back when Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King first opened on Broadway.

I love Aladdin! I just finished a voice intensive with Arielle Jacob's and a Q&A I did with Germanys Princess Jasmine Myrthes Montiero & my friend Marina Pires is the new Princess Jasmine on Broadway ! I am surrounded by princesses & I am so glad the world will get to see the show !
