Lovely sumanesaranjani ragam most melodious rendition. There is a meera bhajan Krishna karo ejamaan in the same raga..Also remember an old film song from kaviyathalaivi our naal iravu pagal pol nilavu .(I may be wrong but sounds like that ) Sabaaaash pramaadam looking for words in the dictionary to appreciate . Thank you so much for sharing! It is so lovely, and sung so well, the only problem is, it ends! LOL (would love to hear an elaborate version with alapanam and improv added) appropriate choice using madhukauns. Although I do love the movie song I am coming back to this more often, goes to show the power of classicsl! Such a lovely ragam and hard to find, I devour anything in Madhukauns / Sumanesa Ranjani. I am loving that experiments like this by classical musicians (got to mention RaGa sisters as well) are extending the reach of carnatic classical music, drawing in more to appreciate the beauty of this lovely genre!

Sir, I don't know if it is a classical carnatic kutcheri though I believe so, going by the pakka vādhyangal. If it is karnātaka sangeetham, it is abominable to bring in such romance/love songs just setting it to some rāgam!! then what is the difference between light cine music and carnatic kutcheri ?!! Love of Bhagawan alone is to be sung, not human lust !!

Sorry Ramaprasad sir, you are being overly critical here. If you listen to the lyrics, penned by none other than Kalki Krishnamurthy himself, it poignantly describes longing and love. To which this raga is perfectly set for an excellent rendition by Gurucharan sir. When pure love is the emotion, what difference does it make whether it is to a bhagawan or an animal or a human! Love in itself is the godly part. The human lust is your interpretation of the love and it should be ascribed to your mind, not to the original lyrics that was penned or to the song as rendered by Gurucharan himself. Sikkil sir, concertla kalakittinga. I was there in the audience and we were all enthralled! Looking forward to your next bay area visit
