I had a similar experience in Montreal. I was at a bar with friends when my ear caught this amazing music coming from a basement bar nearby. I could not resist checking it out and excused myself only to discover UZEB alumni in full swing. I was floored. $ 4. Admission . One of those rare moments. A number of years later I saw Caron in PEI and met him on break. Gracious and friendly. A world class virtuoso and legend.

je suis née en 2002 et j'ai été bercé sur du Alain Caron toute mon enfance grâce à mon père qui était un fin connaisseur et qui m'as contaminé par sa passion virale , aujourd'hui cela me fait toujours quelque chose dès que j'entends Alain faire chanter sa basse et je regrette qu'il n'ait pu entendre ce magnifique concert de ses propres oreilles , j'ai vécu ce concert pour 2 , merci beaucoup Alain ainsi que tes merveilleux musiciens.

One of the things that a lot of people fail to notice is Alain’s flawless intonation and control. He is always in tune. Always. And his control of his tone is masterful. Solid and gritty when he’s comping, and beautifully lyrical when he’s making the tasteful fill or soloing. There’s a lot of players with killer chops that are nowhere as musical as he is. This drummer Damien Schmitt is absolutely great, real tight without over playing. Great inspiration for drummers like myself. Those Mapex drums sound great, the toms are tuned perfect for their sound. The whole band is just tight, A+

But I regret a snare head so tight that every hit sounds like a canon. I will always wonder why no one of the new generation does not emulate Steve Gadd gloriously sounding snare. I am so tired of hearing rim-shots on every back beat, so tired. And I am a pianist...

I was first exposed to Alain in 1985, the UZEB L'Integral CD sets. It is Dec. 2021 and he still continues to be one of the most influential musicians in my life. His music and talent have brought consistent joy to my life all these years. There is no monetary value you can ascribe to that, Merci Alain!

First time I am hearing Alain play, and buddy, you are a fine musician ! I am a drummer myself, and Damien Schmitt is crushing it. Can a player be so deep in the pocket that it feels like free form playing with quartz clock accuracy? I think this set illustrates the answer. This crew is tighter than a ducks butt yet is so unrestrained it's uncanny. Nice work boys!

J'suis heureuse de les entendre et les voir sur You Tube! Mieux encore, j'ai vu et entendu Alain Caron et UZEB à Saint-Jérôme, il y a belle lurette! (J'étais la voisine de Michel Cyr, il connaissait çà, un clavier!). J'étais toujours là, émerveillée! J'ai eu de la chance! WOW! J'suis fière de ces gars québécois, talentueux, puis qui nous représentent merveilleusement! Bravo Boulie, cool!!! T'as raison, on s'en fout du mono. J'ai connu Alain en Suisse, il a même tenu ma fille sur ses genoux, à l'époque elle avait cinq ans...et aujourd'hui elle est bassiste. Elle commence le Conservatoire en septembre 2016. Nous avons partagé quelques bouffes et apéros en Suisse et en Italie avec Alain Caron. Au-delà de son talent de bassiste, il est très ouvert et attachant. J'ai aussi connu Jean St-Jacques, un gars exceptionnel. Modeste...et si talentueux!!! Vive le Québec, ses artistes...et ses habitants. Amitiés, Claudio Cussigh, Porrentruy, Suisse.

i was just 16 when i first heard of alain. a frind of mine hooked me up to him with w cassete of all things called noisy nights with his band called UZEB ! wow. the guitar player was a guy named michel lusson . ill be 50 in a cpl months and have been playing 35 years now. crazy how life is . some players never leave you. one of the most distinctive voices in fusion and jazz and jazz on the bass. underrated .

Such a great work of art, those four musicians are incredible talents ! I have always felt a limitless passion for Caron's style, and he remains true to his reputation and musicality. One thing I find strange tough : why was this video uploaded in mono sound ? We loose all the higly dedicated work from the FOH console team ! Very intriguing. Plus we are deprived of a big chunk of pleasure... no space, no image, no resonance. It just feels weird !

Once upon a time (at the beginning of July 1981), I went to a jazz festival in Bracknell, Berkshire, England. At 3pm on the Sunday, I witnessed one of the most amazing sets I have ever heard. You may know it, if you have the album. And then we went off to the bar to watch John McEnroe beat Bjorn Borg in the men's final at Wimbledon on the telly. Was a fairly good afternoon.

Thanks for posting this amazing, inspiring concert. I've been seeing Caron play live for 15+ years and he usually comes to LA in January for the NAMM show in Anaheim but I haven't seen him booked at any local jazz clubs the past few years. Possibly he lost his endorsement with the company that makes the F Bass. An amazing band with all virtuoso musicians & as a 6-string bassist myself I can't help but idolize Caron.

Incredible, they aren't using any click as I can see there is no in ear monitors, but hell yeah , how are these guys so tight. I see Mr Caron setting up the tempo at the start of every song, these guys have a perfect sense of timing, looks like sheer dedication and practice. God bless them !

I must have met with Alain when Euzèbe Jazz (later UZEB power trio) counted 7 members and Jean Saint-Jacques (the celebrated keyboardist) was playing the drums. But I clearly remember shaking hands with Michel Cusson. Oh! We go back a few years...
