Consummate artistry. The careful counterpoint runs counter to Glenn Gould's careless comment on the "noodlings" of jazz musicians. I don't think there is one idle note to be found, yet you could see daylight between each note. Each brings their own personality amongst the precision. The one loves to play with time, the other likes to play with all the sounds he can get out his instrument. The beauty of the tone makes you want to learn more about the instruments - what brand, model, year, etc. - making sense of the album cover. It has to do with truthfulness, the intimacy between musician and instrument is sensed, and the instrument's personality emerges.
