1. Magindaras are known as a half-human, half-whale shark mermaid in Bicol (Tomas') and Visayan (Alas') cultures, that’s why she displays whale shark spots on her tail. I personally want to know Why did Alamat choose Magindara as their inspiration? Magindaras are vicious mermaids known for using their enchanting voices to lure fishermen to their deaths or draw them in. Did Alamat find her alluring because she used her abilities on them? Possibly. 2. The story's plot was actually inspired by a fisherman who met a Magindara and fell in love right away. 3. White outfits - only Tomas is wearing a barong 4. The choreography draws inspiration from Bagobo Tagabawa (they performed two dances, Lawin-lawin, dance about eagles, and Sugod Uno, a dance about fertile fields) and Pantomina de Albay (a dance of love with flirtatious moves). Additionally, they added a few elements of Caribbean and dance hall moves. 5. The song used 3 ethnic instruments - Kudyapi, Bamblong, and Angklung 6. Their summer attires - the clothes are actually made from Filipino blankets from different provinces. Except for R-ji and Tomas’s outfit. 7. ICYMI - the scene where they were waving at Magindara with the M-A-B-U-H-A-Y letters (Mabuhay actually means "long live," but it's also a greeting for friends visiting our town or country). 8. Playing with cans and slippers - this game is called “Tumbang Preso”. (direct translation is “knock down the prisoner”). The objective of the game is for the players to knock down the tin can by throwing their slippers at it while avoiding being tagged by the "it" player. You can see kids play this on the streets. 9. Tribal outfits - their outfits are inspired by different tribes in the Philippines. Their clothes are in red, yellow, blue, and white, representing the Philippine flag. (In Filipino culture, the color red actually represents bravery and warriors). If you want to see more Filipino Traditional Outfits - ncip.gov.ph/ip-groups/ 10. Drinks in small plastic bag with straw - it’s a common practice in the Philippine streets. We do this because it’s more convenient than having to stay at the store to return the glass bottle where the drink came from or going back to the store to return the bottle. (side note, though this are single-use plastics, large amount of single use plastics in the Philippines are imported from wealthier countries, which use the Philippines as a dumping ground for their waste, but yeah, we also use a lot of single use plastics.) 11. In the final scene, Magindara proudly wears a necklace with a letter A and a beautiful blue heart-shaped stone. This moment symbolizes the friendship extended by Alamat and how they graciously share their culture with her. 12. Magindara's outfits are adorned with gorgeous pearls, which perfectly represent the Philippines, fondly known as "The Pearl of the Orient". This nickname is given due to the country's breathtaking landscapes, rich ecosystems, diverse cultures, and, of course, its stunning beaches. Interestingly, the Philippines is also home to the largest pearl ever discovered, weighing 75 pounds or 34 kilograms. 13. They only used 3 languages in this song, namely Filipino, Bisaya, and English. 14. Jao did the choreography And it’s also worth noting that they on the soft beach sand and even in knee-deep water. Imagine the heavy water and uneven soft sand.

The song is about a myth of Magindara played by Jane De Leon. They love magindara. Plus the tranditional instruments on the background and folk dances choreograph by Jao (bestie of all)

Its similar to mermaid but the story is different the inspiration came from Bicol region's myth (one of the member actually came from Bicol en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bicol_Region ) a sea dwelling creature called Magindara. bicolanomythsofgodsandmonsters.blogspot.com/2017/01/magindara.html
