Next to SB19, they're the most favored group. They have a smaller fandom but I think everyone here will agree that most A'tin, if not all, support this group.

This is a quintessential Filipino alternative rock sound. Reminds me of the bands that reigned the OPM airwaves back in the 90s. The sound never really died, still a huge following to this day and I love that Alamat did this song ❤

this is one of their older songs, I think it was last year when they released it so they were still in their sophomore year back then. they are so young and yet so talented. I love Alamat and I can't wait for them to be as well-known as SB19 they are so good vocally and their visuals are not bad. Thanks for the rv.

For such a young group, they are very solid, and you’re right, once they mature they will have better and better vocals as long as they keep training (which I’m sure they are). I can see them following SB19’s footsteps. I always appreciate your comments to these artists and I’m glad you’re exploring PPOP more :)

And yeah I was also obsessed with “Truly Madly Deeply” when it came out I had it on repeat that time and still on my spotify playlist now. One of the best love songs ever made just like this masterpiece by Alamat

This is one of their songs that's fully in Tagalog. A lot of Philippine languages have Spanish loan words and a lot of Filipinos roll their Rs. I think people from the Visayas region in particular (like R-Ji and Alas, and Ken from SB19) tend to do it a lot. And your pronunciation is pretty good! 😊 Tomas is the third person who sang in the live (the one with glasses), and Jao (pronounced like you would in Chinese, with the "ao" sounding like "ow") is the second person who sang. Generally speaking, Jao will be the one with blond/light-coloured hair. I think they just need more experience before their harmonies tighten up. They trained for less than a year before they debuted (compared to 4+ years for SB19) so their lives aren't quite there yet, but yeah, they're so talented that it's only a matter of time. Re how successful they are, p-pop as it is now is still in its infancy so it's not as big a part of the music industry as, e.g. kpop is in Korea. SB19 is by far the most well-known group and lots of new groups have formed in the wake of their success, but sadly, I think there's still a tendency for the general public to go for kpop instead. So Alamat's numbers are actually pretty good for a p-pop group that only debuted a couple of years ago.

This was the song after 2 members left. They were all so close with them. But life is just like that. People come and go. And it hurts. Add the moment where Tomas dad's died. That's why the sadness can really be felt in SPNL. 🥺😭

I love savage garden! I love this song, too! A ton of memories and the hangar Alamat used in this MV holds a lot of significance for me and their song isn’t helping 😂 Have you seen their MV for Maharani? I recommend that if you haven’t. 😊

I'm an A'tin and I'm also rooting for Alamat. I thought I would only stan our Mahalima but when I heard this song omg why are they so freaking good?? I'm still learning who is who but Tomas' voice stood out. R-Ji, Taneo and Mo exceeded my expectations! I have to know more of Alas and Jao whose visuals are so good! 😮 How... How!!! 😭😅😂

YESSS! You listened to my requested fav song of theirs. I truly think this song is so underrated, as is the group. You're so on point with the comparison with Pentagon. They are both so talented yet slightly underrated. I think the thing you may have noticed about PPop is that it's more vocal centric compared to KPop. PPop are more focused on amazing vocals and harmonies instead of visuals and aesthetics. So thankful you listened to this one. ❤

LOL funny you mention Savage Garden... Truly Madly Deeply was POPULAR in the Philippines back in maybe the early 2000s and is probably a Karaoke favourite of a lot of Filipinos 😂 You'll notice also that a lot of the singing styles of traditional OPM songs (and I feel like this song lands more towards "traditional OPM" than "PPop" sound - but TBH everything made in the Philippines should just be classified OPM) is very much like a lot of western music as well, which makes it easy to listen to if you grew up to similar songs from the US, Canada, UK, etc. If you want PPop ballads with similar feels, check out BGYO's "PNGNP", Yes My Love's covers of "Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw", "Give Me Your Forever" or "Pasilyo", Press Hit Play's "Wala Na Ba?"... and of course SB19's ballads or their cover of "Bakit ba Ikaw"

The also kill up beat songs like "Kasmala" and "Kybe" which old members were still with them.

they intentionally made it sleepy sounding to go with the 'dream' theme; afterall, the title is "In a dream only" The smallest, and youngest looking and sounding one is Tomas; the OLDEST one ;) Jao (sounds like chow an how but with 'J' sound); he's the breathy sounding one. I love that they can sound like a choir like an a capella choir.

As to spotify streams, Alamat is one of the ppop groups w/ the highest streams (currently 2nd in standing) probably because their discography is flawless, w/ most of their songs that ranges mostly rnb pop to several other genres are easy & good to listen to. :) When this version was made, the group is still adjusting to the loss of 2 other members who used to play major roles in their harmonies. Their live performances have gone way better since this acoustic version, & their harmonies have gotten tighter w/ everyone getting used to their established roles in their harmonies. (Taneo, Alas, & Jao used to sing in much lower keys, & had to fill in the higher keys every now & then - in this song, Jao & Alas had to sing in keys they were not yet comfortable at the time)

Alamat has really good sound mixing which helps a lot. There are lots of recent ppop songs that look great as live performances but are unbearable on streaming services because the mixing is shit. I'm glad we have at least 2 groups with decent production budget haha
