ALAMAT - 'Walang Hanggan' (Official M/V) | REACTION

According to JPL, Alamat's Creative Director, "Walang Hanggan" is a prequel to their previous song "Sa Panaginip Na Lang". Here, the person speaking is still hoping for an Everlasting (Walang Hanggan) love even though as the lyrics suggest, there were countless times the person he loves has failed him. We also know that he didn't get his wish because in SPNL, the lyrics say that "In my dreams, we are happy, you accept me even though I'm not perfect. In my dreams, all of the stars are aligned for us so I wish I never wake up" As for the MV naman, her are some fan theories from Magiliws from Twitter. Of course, it's open for interpretation: 1. Taneo - haunted is by the past. He can't escape the memories. 2. Mo - he was hurt before (his face has no emotions), he gambled again and gave his heart away (the goldfish he tried to give) but ended up being rejected 3. Tomas - he looked happy, he looked like he accepted the pain but when faced with a concrete reminder of the past. You realize you'll never be okay. Time only lessens the pain but it never gies away. 4. Alas - you are suffering, trying to connect with others for help but you get apathy in return. What's worse you become a sideshow. Just another story on their feed. 5. RJi- life is just unfair sometimes. You get robbed, discover your girlfriend is cheating on you and then you get mugged. 6. Jao- the knife at his back symbolizes the pain from a previous memory. Other people tried pointing out to him and tried to get it out of him but he doesn't want to. He wanted to dwell on the pain because that is his only connection to that past he so cherishes. Even though he knows it is destructive for him and led to his own (emotional) death.

The last one's (Alas) character can be related to the story implied from the song The Man Who Can't Be Moved by The Script. Basically, he was handing out flyers and was trying to find his supposed gf who either went missing or left him without informing him. We can see him kinda getting angry cuz he was feeling frustrated due to not being able to find her yet (implied thru him seemingly camping out in the streets).

For R-ji, aside from the fact that his earned money from busking was stolen, he saw his girlfriend (I hope I'm right) cheating on him with another dude and that's probs the reason why he got angry and punched the other dude.

Jao’s story has a lot of interpretations and this is just the theories of mine and other fans that I thought is quite good. one example is him having a knife at his back may mean people or someone he loved betrayed him(hence him being stabbed at the back).although feeling that pain of betrayal,he still doesn’t want to let go of that pain and he keeps on hoping and waiting for that person or people would change in the future. 2nd one is a little sensitive and may begin a debate…As you know Philippines is a very religious country,now you see him being pushed by people to get him out of the church because of maybe him not being fit into the christian ideal and people are not much accepting of that even though the church is the one saying to love one another.that is why I think when he got out of the church he is more hurt and bloodied than before(emotional trauma). There might be some more info that magiliws will add on about Jao’s story on the comment section.Thanks for reacting and for always giving love to Alamat!

Mo is being discriminated because of race and social status. Taneo looks haunted by a death of a relationship. Alas looks like he must have been ghosted by the girl. Tomas is still grieving over a loved one’s passing. RJi is having a rough time with his money getting stolen and his gf cheating on him. Jao stumps me as his is very symbolic….he looks like he is being hurt by religion or by a relationship and even though people want to help him he seems to want to stay where he is, and eventually that situation kills him.

I think the MV is about the real pain that the ALAMAT faced in real life. Somehow what I'm only sure is Tomas and Mo. 3:03 Mo is about racism. 😔 3:40 In Tomas' part, his father died right before they had their first big concert last Ppop Con 2022. 😭 You are not that late, Friend! For Jao I think it has to do with either his sexuality, distinct style (he likes feminine stuff despite being a guy) or both. Like we see him with a knife in his back and getting beat up by guys in front of a church. That or it just be an experience of bullying. I could be wrong with my interpretation though. As for the rest I have no idea as well.

3:13 This shows how judgemental people are towards someone with different skin color. Some interpretation says that Mo here has no friend and he only has the fish, but despite that, he is still willing to offer it to others. But of course, there are some racist folks who don't want to associate themselves to someone of different color skin. I remember when I was in gradeschool, my classmates were always teasing one of my classmate just because he has darker skin color, they were calling him 'ulikba' (fowl with dark meat) just to mock him. They were treating him like he has some sort of skin disease. Unfortunately, although lessened, this thing still happens now. Thank you for reacting to this Jeevan. I love ALAMAT, and I hope many people will know them and their music.
