NUCLEAR POWER IS NOT SAFE. There were 3 global accidents in USA, Ukraine & Japan. Since then many countries opted to shut down their nuclear power plants. The serious effects of nuclear meltdowns in those countries were very severe. Many people died and thousands of children became handicapped all their life due to radiation exposure and this radiation can reach other countries if there was an accident. We should turn to SAFE RENEWABLE ENERGY like HYDROPOWER from flowing water, BIOMASS from plants, GEOTHERMAL energy from inside the earth, WIND energy and SOLAR energy from the sun. The world is now gearing to safe, renewable energy because it does not harm mother nature and does not contribute to Global warming. The Government should seek to achieve on making the Philippines a self sustaining country rather than cheap platforms that people had been hearing for decades and never really made an impact. Also projects like this should be held by the Government and not private companies or Oligarchs like the late Corazon Aquino did to many of the Governments projects in the 90's. Make the General Public benefit out of such projects and not the Rich people for freaks sake.

I hate it when a Political Party has an Oligarch behind them, it just mean that when they win, they'll start repaying that Oligarch using peoples taxes like what Cory did. This is why I have trouble supporting the Liberal Party, their main financers are Oligarchs, and I doubt they would finance a party without asking something in return.

@@bles1614 3 is a miniscule number compared to the hundreds of nuclear power plants out there. If anything solar, wind and hydroelectricy may cause even more environmental side effects than nuclear. Hydroelectricity causes rivers to loose water flow and can cause disruption to wildlife. Solar and wind energy are way less efficient than nuclear. A single nuclear power plant could be equal to thousands if not millions of solar panels or hundreds of wind turbines. Add the fact that they can be unreliable due to weather conditions while nuclear is pretty reliable. This much solar panels or wind turbines would require a pretty huge space. To be able to obtain such space, you would need to cut down acres of forests which would be detrimental to wild life. Another thing is wind turbines cause a lot of bird related deaths. Wind turbines are deadly for birds.

I hope the government will consider investing in nuclear fusion power plant with water as its fuel source. The energy output will be at least 10X compared to nuclear fission. Long overdue.... We need 5 more like this model. This is mini nuclear plant that minimize all risks unlike big nuclear plants in Japan. Highest standard of security & maintenance have to be maintained. These mini models are somewhat strategic sizes due to demographic organizations of islands. 2 in Mindanao, 2 in Visaya & 3 in Luzon will be suffice for at least 100 years. Modern Techonolgy make the operations more efficient & productive. By the way "Salubungan methodology" are the best way to reach the cleanest & safest energy programs. While we have these nuclear plants, parallel in the programs are building those coming green energy projects such as Solar, Winds, water, Volcano Thermal, Gas & other similar environmental-Friendly-Energy-Sources. Due to Pandemic, our economy needs booster pump productions from all sectors of industries. Businesses & Jobs needed quicker than usual slow growth. Less expensive electricity, water & labor will induce many foreign investors to our country. The trade war between China & the west will be in our advantages, in fact, the global economic & Geo politics could be our time to stand prime sources of consuming products & our organic mineral resources are great sources for mini-transistors from small oven to Cars, trains, airplanes & not limited to military arms of big nations. Great Education & Health system will produce high skilled & strong labor force for all of these manpower demands... Cheap Energy, Cheap Water, skilled workers.... all we need to quick recovery...

First of all, BBM point out that NPP is one of the key to suffice the education in our country. No one literally think about that this is a great opportunity, not even Leni. This is so far, the best opinion I've heard, what a great leader.

@@bles1614 are you talking about chernobyl? It was indeed a disaster, no doubt but knowing that it was a communist state, there was no legal and moral procedures to ensure its safety. Aside from the Chernobyl disaster (which was an anomaly) there was no massive and serious accident relating to nuclear power plants ever reported in the last 3 decades. Despite that, more and more countries built nuclear power plants because they have established that the benefits outweigh the risks and accidents with nuclear energy. Just because airplane crashes are catastrophic doesn't mean we will already abolish air travel. We have to see the bigger picture and put our minds in the right perspective. The reality is, we rely on energy to power our homes, our cities, our industries, our lives. We have to have reliable, cost-effective, safe, clean energy sources. All major countries rely on nuclear energy like Singapore, S. Korea, USA, Great Britain, France, Switzerland, China, Japan, Russia, Australia and I could go on and on. Why is there no clamor for its abandoment in these countries? In fact their lives improved and their economy grew because of nuclear power.

Nuclear arsenals of super power countries are 10 times more dangerous than a nuclear plant to generate electricity. Why then the US, RUSSIA, INDIA, PAKISTAN and many other countries have nuclear arsenals and nuclear plants?? Nuclear energy I believe is very safe and can sustain energy for long period of time. Let our experts in nuclear engineering be the persons to decide on this matter with regards to safety, its strategic locations, capacity etc etc. Nuclear energy should be considered as alternative in the future.

May the increase in prices of oil because of Russia-Ukraine crisis open the eyes of the masses to stop depending on limited fossil fuels and make alternative sustainable energy. One of it is nuclear energy, sure it’s unsafe in the long run, but until we can make a more efficient and safer forms of sustainable energy, nuclear and natural energy can be used. Nuclear energy is actually safe when handled properly, the fear of disasters happening on nuclear facilities is just by chance. Fukushima (caused by natural disasters) and Chernobyl (caused by faulty reactor because of corrupt officials that led to substandard reactors) was just an unfortunate chance of a disaster. If the planning for safety is no. 1 on building a nuclear power plant then it should be more than fine. I’ll just point out that dangers of earthquakes (maybe tsunami since it’s facing an ocean) and typhoons might affect the safety of the plant (if built) but then again, if everything is planned accordingly, especially for safety then it shouldn’t be a problem. We need to learn what happened in Fukushima and Chernobyl in order to improve the safety of our own plant (if it will be built). Humans learn and adapt, learn the cause of the problem and improve safety, that’s all.

Also, while creating the “dream” which is clean natural source of energy (wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, and biomass), nuclear power can be temporarily used. It will just be dismantled when the clean energy resource facilities are enough to sustain the whole country. Solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, and biomass forms of energy are not as efficient and reliable as nuclear, it is also very expensive to build in large amounts, that’s why it will take time. Nuclear power is a very very good temporary solution while building an eco friendly source of energy for the future. Remember, we are not Elon Musk that can just build solar farms as much as he can because he has the money to do so. We need to use what we have and plan carefully, and just hope no one corrupts the plans haha

If we love MOTHER EARTH and MANKIND, we will turn to SAFE RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES.

@@bles1614 Out of 440 Nuclear Power Plants in the world, only 3 accidents recorded so far. Don't you know that Nuclear Power Plants have safety features? and the countries where Nuclear Power Plant accidents happened are still using Nuclear Power Plant this days. Also Nuclear Power Plants are carbon free unlike those renewable source of energy you just mentioned.

@@bles1614 so does other means as well. Hydropower such as dams can hinder water distribution to low lying areas, biomass isn't as sufficient compared to fossil fuels, geothermal is limited to its location and also produces waste, wind is good but depends on location as well, solar consumes a large landmass and does not have consistent power production. I'm not saying those are bad, but they aren't 100% safe/good as well. solar is good as supplementary source of power but not on larger scale especially for a country like the Philippines that has limited land mass, although, it would be nice to encourage establishments and homeowners to use solar to lower their cost and act as a small producer of electricity especially now that it is getting cheaper compared to what it was a decade ago. nuclear isn't as bad as everyone thinks as long as proper precautions are applied. A lot of countries are using it since the positives outweighs the negatives, and is greatly beneficial especially to fast developing countries like the Philippines where power demands are high. The Philippines is still using a lot of coal, as written in 'the asean post' article; "Coal is the country's dominant energy source with a 52 percent share in gross power generation as of December 2018, followed by renewable energy sources (geothermal, hydro, solar, and wind) with 22 percent and natural gas at 21 percent." Coal Power Plants as you may know is one huge greenhouse gas factory, hugely responsible for majority of carbon dioxide emissions, which is considered one of the largest contributor to global warming. In terms of efficiency, there's no doubt nuclear far outweighs coal. A quick google search or a youtube video would tell you the comparison between the two. Also, a nuclear power plant produces clean energy, meaning it does not produce any greenhouse gases when operating.

NUCLEAR ENERGY IS THE SAFEST. The Fukushima accident resulted in some radiation exposure of workers at the plant, but not such as to threaten their health, unlike Chernobyl. Maliban sa Chernobyl, WALANG NUCLEAR WORKERS O MAMAMAYAN NA NAMATAY AS A RESULT OF EXPOSURE SA MGA NUCLEAR REACTOR INCIDENTS NA ITO.

Nuclear power plants is a very “reliable” source energy! Outages or shutdown are just during refueling normally after 2 years of non shutdown continuous operation and for some modifications that needs to be done for more safer operation! Nuclear Power Plants are designed to last for 40 years and more! Just saying!

bakit kaya lodi ni yor-meh ang the Netherlands ano ba meron dun 🧐For now mahal ang renewable energy at di totoo na lesser carbon footprint niyan. For one you need to clear hectares of land to establish solar power plants. Also less ang production ng solar panels compare to coal or nuclear. So you need twice or thrice the amount of solar panel to produce energy. Solar panels will only last you 15-20 years. You cannot recycle it to produce new solar panels. After EOL niyan tapun na. e-waste. Di tayo pwede maghangad na gumaya sa first world countries na mag aim for less carbon footprint. Illusion yan. Kahit nga ilang first world eh balik sa coal at nuclear. Developing country tayo. And for now, we are mostly relying on coal. We need to add more coal power plant and we need to explore nuclear asap. Long overdue na nga eh. Kung di lang lutang yung umagaw ng pwesto ni Marcos mura na sana at stable yung kuryente natin ngayon.
