My wife is a clinical psychologist and while I was cleaning my Funko Pop collection, she was telling me how good of a tool inside out 2 is for her to use in sessions with her anxious teen patients. It's a flawed movie for sure but that depiction of anxiety trying to take over Riley's brain not out of malice but out of a neurotic desire to protect Riley is just a really, really good depiction of anxiety that's useful for talking about it in a therapeutic way.

In 2001, I saw Bruce Campbell on a tour for his book and he did a whole run about Congo. He got a volunteer and asked them, "You've got the writer of Jurassic Park, the screenwriter of Moonstruck, the producer of E.T., Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park! Do you make this movie?" The person said, "Yes" and Bruce said, "Congratulations, you just made Congo!"

That LA Alamo mall also has elevators that only go to the Kaiser offices that aren't marked and then you accidentally end up in a doctor's office

Covid killed our Alamo Drafthouse. Ive never been to one. I would definitely come to an Omaha show as that would be closer to me than any city theyve been to so far.

The coolest Alamo experience I've had as an austinite was at the Ritz location. Scott Pilgrim Quote--along that had lasers, confetti cannons, LED foam sticks, and a pre-show Mortal Kombat (I think) tournament.

Regarding the search for non mainstream IP cinema: it's the same with music. There's plenty of cool, new stuff out there, but the oversaturation of content availability makes it a hunt.

is the origin of mitch joking nick is a pedophile a result of nick commenting on mitch being late constantly? i am not gonna go back and try and find the exact moment mitch decided joking about pedophilia was cool and good but i have this really strong memory that nick kept saying he had to wait for mitch and then mitch started saying nick wanted to have sex with children. this episode, with someone else ripping on mitch for not being able to do anything on time made me remember this thing i've been wondering about.

Regarding remembering people talking in movies. I have three instances that are forever burned in my mind: 1. Seeing "The Last Samurai" at a dollar theater and these two drunk fools talking LOUDLY throughout the entire thing. I moved close to a speaker so I could at least drown them out a little. Someone tried to tell them to quiet down and then they got confrontational. Security has to escort them out. You could hear bottles clink as they got up 2. Seeing Kill Bill part 2 first showing of the day and this couple brought THEIR THREE SINGLE DIGIT AGED KIDS to the movie. Kill Bill 2. Hardly a child appropriate film. The kids were noisy. Climbing on chairs etc. I went up to an employee and they were like "okay we will let management know" and then nothing happened. Stopped going to that theater after that. 3. Seeing Anchorman on opening night. The people sitting next to my mom were being obnoxious so she got up and complained to the usher and manager on duty and we got a stack of readmission tickets and those people got booted.

IP has nothing to do with anything. It is a burnout on massive, visually overblown, underwritten movies that have no real substance. Dude needs to relax with his tired "end of the movie industry" talk.
