Oh, man, ya'll just missed the mud cliffs. We were there Dec. 30th and left on Jan 1st. We were in our Jeep Gladiator with our KRX in the dispersed camping area and we were lucky enough to camp along the water. Our Aluma trailer only scraped once. We did all the same things you guys did but added the mud cliffs near the Wayside Oasis and also did dinner at the Wayside before trekking home to Tucson. We did blow a tire in Phoenix on the way home. Didn't even realize until someone flashed the heck out of me. Tire ruined our fender. Got home at like 2am on Jan 2nd so we just missed running into you all on the trails. Awesome place. Even casted our reels out a few times before we packed up camp to leave. Great place. Diesel heater in the rooftop tent kept us warm. We had planned to also hit up Swansea mine but it was too far out for a single day ride and see all the other sites out there.

My moms x boyfreind and close freind for years owned and ran the concessions and dam. I used to drive the old golf cart etc and go below the dam. Had keys. It was the 80s. The lake covers Alamo crossing and mine shafts etc. tunnels. Matter of fact his best friend chuck and Barbara ran the place for him. He told me the story of Roswell as he was an MP at the airbase when it happened. He said it was 100% true also. This was 1980-84. Used to run supplies there every 2 weeks.
