And this wing is not yet listed on Duotone site. Considering that it is already available on sale, that's weird.

Alan, has an experience with the D-lab led you to believe it's less durable or just leaning on the Dacron as the "proven" traditional option? We've found in the past couple of years using Aluula with kites (1 year on Glide Aluula wing) that they've been more durable and certainly longer lasting. - Tucker

Hello Alan, Many thanks for the review and explanations ! I plan to start Wing foiling on lake with light wind conditions. I m coming from Windfoiling and so think about the slick with the boom, with my windsurfing past. But what would you recommend duotone unit or duotone slick (D lab might not be the "beginner choice", I suppose)? thank you.
@alancadizwingfoilinginstru2926
@alancadizwingfoilinginstru2926 2 жыл бұрын
Aloha thecrets007, I too come from the windsurf back round and I really like the boom too. Transitions, turning around, are much easier. The D Lab is lighter for sure but as a beginner you will not appreciate the permanence difference. The slick is a great wing too. It will not hold you back. I also have a slick, but the price difference between the slick and unit 2022 right now is pretty big. I havent tested the unit, but I can tell you that the slick is an excellent wing and is great for learning. From what I understood from videos about the unit 2022 is that its a light performance wing with a lot of power behind it (great for downwinders and racing) which like alan said, you probably wont notice as a beginner. I dont think the big price difference is worth it when learning

Just my 2 cents: 93kg novice rider-> my Unit 6,5 ('22) works in 11kts. It is lifty! A feature that I'm not after in smaller sizes, therefore my 5mtr is the SlickSLS and 4mtr is the old Slick! ^^

Hey… great video! Thanks. I have a v1 5m & 6m unit. I’m 70kg… and whilst I got the 6m for lighter wind… I actually don’t use it much as I find I can often pump and get flying in about 12/13knots with my 5m… and do find the 6m a bit large in the span. Wondering if with the DLab having more low end grunt… if I can just sell both v1’s and replace it with a 5m DLab!? Any thoughts. Also - how durable are the Dlabs? Are they more fragile than the Dacron versions?
@alancadizwingfoilinginstru2926
@alancadizwingfoilinginstru2926 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mik, I can't say if it will have more "grunt". I can say because of the stiffness of the Aluula it has a higher wind range. I have had no problems with the Aluula. Dacron has a long history of durability. Time will answer that question. Kiters have been using the Aluula in some of their kites for a few years now. So it does have some history.

Hey man. I'm thinking of Buying the duotone 2022 unit. For a beginner what size wing would you recommend ? I'm 70kg. 5'11. I plan to practice first on a SUP
@alancadizwingfoilinginstru2926
@alancadizwingfoilinginstru2926 2 жыл бұрын
@@anikibrother7691 The depends on your local wind conditions. What is the average wind speed. Also unless you have center fin or dagger board or strap on fins for your SUP it will be difficult to stay upwind.

Knowing that the wing is lighter and stiffer if for the light wind I would chose the 5m in unit v1 should I take the same size for the v2 dlab or the 4,5? Thanks

Same size, If I understand your question, because you can hold the D lab in stronger wind and not feel overpowered.

Whats the air pressure on the d lab
@michaellambert8606
@michaellambert8606 2 жыл бұрын
6.5 psi seems low for allula? My first 6m was an airush, which was max 4psi, so it was so floppy it seemed the size was doing anything for me when pumping. It was like a wet noodle. I thought allula handles higher psi, or is it rather that allula is stiff even with less psi?

Hello Alan.please be so kind and tell me what Duotone model and size do you consider god for be functional whit a SUP RED EXPLORER 13.4. I intend to buy one for using the wind on SUP rîdes. I am 190 cm and 105 kilos. Thank you.Aloha from Romania
@alancadizwingfoilinginstru2926
@alancadizwingfoilinginstru2926 2 жыл бұрын
The size depends more on the amount of wind you you will be using it in. Please know that when using a hand held wing on a SUP board it is very difficult to sail up wind. Even for a skilled rider it is challenging to come back to the spot where they launched. If you where using in a foil board with your weight I would guess 4 to 6 meter depending on wind strength. Hope that helps.

Thanks, but not very helpful at the end : what are the real benefits of the D lab version,? Ok lighter so in the bigger size and light wind , surely slight advantages…. But using the d lab , it also mean they could have gone with smaller diameter tubes to further take advantage of the new tissue. But just did a one to one copy …..Well not convinced the price difference is really worth it. Of course doing a test would be be the only way to know….

Meaning...I have a first Gen Unit 5m...does the new Unit and D-lab has the same width, length and wingspan as the old one?? Pleas let me know...that would help me to know as what size wing I should get next...thank you so much for your cool vids...cheers
